Hey Thayani, congrats on finally getting an interview date.

This is the link for the UK regional section of this website: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showforum=99. Also, post your interview date here in the UK Interview thread so that it can be added to the list: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=168968.

As far as your concern of your fiance's UK student visa expiring, read my post here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...t&p=3139340. The information you are looking for can be found in this post of mine. Just a reminder: your fiance has within 28 days from the day his UK student visa expires to leave the UK, meaning that he will be legal in the UK for 28 days even after his visa expires. But after the 28 days end, he will be illegal if he chooses to remain in the UK. If he leaves the UK on the 28th day, he will be considered legal and he will not have any problems. But if he overstays the 28 day grace period once his visa expires in the UK, he will be considered illegal and may face consequences as dictated by the UKBA and UKHO.

Thanks for all your kind words everyone. I'm gonna apply for a job soon as I got back. Lost mine the day after I got my plane ticket. The economy is amazingly horrible! I read some figures claiming the US is crunching numbers and the actual unemployment is 15% headed towards 20. Based on everyone I know, in my circle it's about 17% and I'm in a pretty economy-safe area being near the fed government and all. Oh well, it doesn't matter as long as MY employment is 100%

We're flying back home on the 11th. Truth be told I was an ebay seller and very good at it to the point I left my job and started my own business then ebay decided they didn't want me or my competitor selling antiques from abroad. They wouldn't say why but I'm looking for other things to sell...shoes, dresses but I haven't a clue about customs agents for shiploads of junk to sell when small gold and silver fit nicely in a suitcase 4 times a year.

I've been buying old gold rings and earrings 21-23k stuff. Pissed me off when yesterday I bought 7 items with fake stamps that tested 6 karat gold. So sick of scamming being the norm but that's why I broguht my testing kit (batteries were dead when I bought yest). soooo I think I'll go back and work in a hospital and maybe she can try to look for good profit imports from abroad.

It's so nice to hear others are moving along. Condolences for the death, Gemmie. i don't deal with death well. lost my brother and best friend 4 yrs ago and i've never bounced back.

MARM: Thankyou so much...it was really helpful!!! I didn't know that you have like 28 days of grace period to leave the country!! Did you guys get your passport yet?? Any new information on that??

My fiance is still waiting on his police clearance from Sri Lanka for the past month. He called the Foreign Ministry earlier today to find out that they still have it but have not sent it out yet. Last week he called same story. Apparently, with the problems there with the minority group....they are told by the higher people to delay the paperwork for the Tamils!! its been 6 months now..that we asked for this police clearance. The problem is fiance has his interview next week and NO POLICE CLEARANCE from sri lanka. He does have a clearance from UK for the past 5 years. Hopefully, they don't reject bcoz he doesn't have the clearance yet. This whole process is not easy!!!!!

You are welcome Thayani :)

If your fiance does not have his Sri Lankan police certificate by the time of his interview, he will be approved pending the police certificate. He will not be rejected just because he does not have his Sri Lankan police certificate at the time of his interview. My fiance submitted his passport to the embassy over 1 month ago, but my fiance is currently on Admin Processing at the interview. We pray daily that he receives his visa in hand ASAP!

Yes I got your message and I sent you a message in reply

Hope you got it. In case you didn't, here is the information again:

Directly from the UKBA website:

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/policyan...ionrules/part9/.

Grounds on which entry clearance or leave to enter the United Kingdom is to be refused:

........

.......

......

unless the applicant:

(i) Overstayed for 28 days or less and left the UK voluntarily, not at the expense (directly or indirectly) of the Secretary of State;

If he leaves within 28 days after the expiry of his visa, he will not be considered illegal upon leaving the UK and he will not have issues or face a ban if he chooses to apply to enter the UK in the future. However, if he does not leave within the 28 days period after his visa expires and it becomes 28 days or more that he stays on an expired visa in the UK, then he will be considered illegal, may face deportation and have issues applying for UK visas in the future.
