Defacing or mutilating US currency is an offense. I shall now track you down and throw away the key!

not if he does not try to use it afterwards.

as for guns, jeesh i'll have to look for my list.

Doesn't matter if he uses it or not. Money is "owned" by the Federal Reserve Bank and thusly not yours to deface or mutilate.

However, the chances of actual prosecution is about nil! :P

I say throw away the key!

let's ask william.

18 U.S.C. 331

Title 18 United States Code, Section 331

Whoever fraudulently alters, defaces, mutilates, impairs, diminishes,

falsifies, scales, or lightens any of the coins coined at the mints of

the United States, or any foreign coins which are by law made current

or are in actual use or circulation as money within the United States;

or

Whoever fraudulently possesses, passes, utters, publishes, or sells,

or attempts to pass, utter, publish, or sell, or brings into the

United States, any such coin, knowing the same to be altered, defaced,

mutilated, impaired, diminished, falsified, scaled, or lightened -

Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five

years, or both

I'm not saying you're wrong, however, there is that OR in between both paragraphs. I'm gonna ask my boss tomorrow, out of pure curiosity.

i've heard one can only get in trouble if they deface it and then try to pass it. i'm sure the government won't mind a few of us tearing up $100 bills, as that just means we took it out of circulation and they get to print more

I'm not gun expert nor serious collector but I do have a number.

My favorite is this little old pump 22 I bought at a gunshow to hunt rabbits.

I had been using a Shotgun, Browning sweet 16 (Belgium) but the stock was taking wear from wadding through briers so much.

The 22 is cheap to shoot and very light to carry. You can run even the cheapest grade ammo without a problem.

If only it were that simple! :P

The US mint won't be circulating any of the new pennies due to the huge amount out there at the moment being horded in people's penny jars! Stop hoarding, people!

Not including the ones that people are shooting at! D'oh!

I have an 1100 12 gauge with a 28 inch modified that I bought back in the late 70's, a sweet gun.

I have a bubbleblowing water pistol. It was a romantic present bought for my by my husband for my last birthday.

I'm blessed.

I have a Super Soaker too.

the 1100 12 gauge was the first gun i got, my dad got it in 1970 i think, brand new for $65 - it was apparently part of the nex system in vietnam, the nex decided to take guns out of the nex system in vietnam so this gun wound up in japan at that price and my dad got it. nowadays, that same gun goes for around $500-650 used, new close to 1k.
