What type of gun or rifle do you have?

AR-15

SKS (Modified with plastic stock- resembles AK-47)

(both owned before the weapons ban)

Mossberg 500 Shotgun (buck/slug barrels)

.45 Pistol Custom modified with tritium sights, laser sight, pacmar grips.

(household defense weapon B) )

.38 Luger

(inherited from my Dad)

(5) .22 rifles (2 for show, rest for pest control)

I have the ability to make all my own ammo.

_____

For training:

Navy - I was certified on the .45pistol/9mm pistol/M-14.

I was also on the shipboard quick response team for the USS Dale.

Never had to shoot anyone, but I have drawn down on a few suspects.

I am in the process of getting my concealed weapon permit for my state.

I regularly go to the gun range to stay in practice, and I believe most of the "accidents" with guns caused by people is because they don't know how to actually use the gun, and when they need to, it's too late for "learning as you go..."

_____

My thoughts on gun control.

If your trained with the weapons, can pass the background checks, I believe you should be allowed to own them.

I rather have the gun in my hand, then held to my head.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

So because it is in the Govt's best interest they can do what they want regardless of what the people say and we supposed to go along with it even if it is Un-Constitutional?

The Govt and the courts are the ones who decide on whether something is unconstitutional. Whether individuals feel it is or not - isn't really relevant.

.

umm ... think you need to read up on the GCA 1968, NFA, and FOPA 1986 .. maybe the cops in the family can explain these to you.

Oooo that was a touch snarky.

If memory serves, FOPA contains a loophole allowing for the continued ownership of automatic weapons manufactured before the date of the statute.

Wasn't intended to be "snarky" ... just suggesting a revisit to the source of your information ... sorry

Please explain the FOPA loophole?

Guess you're referring to the machine gun ban (Hughes Amendment)? How many of the pre-FOPA86 registered Class III firearms were used illegally in a crime since the NFA was enacted in '34? Hint ... crime using registered class III firearms is exceedingly rare. Legally owned (ie, NFA-registered) machine guns have been used in only two murders since 1934 and one of these was committed by a police officer.

This amendment stops transfer of class III firearms not registered before the May 19, 1986. This effectively made the previously registered and still transferable firearms highly desirable as collector and/or investment pieces. So ... where was the "problem" created by this "loophole" with registered ownership by law abiding citizens?

I have little or no interest in guns, or gun ownership. The only gun I was ever interested in was my great grandpa's WWI dough boy rifle, an Enfield 1917. Would have dearly loved to have that, not as a gun, but as something he stayed alive using during the War to End All Wars.

Some of mine go bang bang if you click click, others you have to pull that thingy back and push it back in again, another have to put pepper or some black stuff in, a wad and a big piece of lead and really jam it in there. That one goes

BANG

when you go click.

I enjoyed shooting a handgun at the range (I was pretty good the first time I went) and would carry on doing that but I probably wouldn't own one.
