I just submitted my I-129F, unfortunately i didn't know about this site until after i submitted it, although i ran the visa twice in person via an immigration officer just to work out the little kinks, so i shouldn't be getting any RFEs. (Hopefully).

Anyway, a few days after i submitted it, i heard from a friend who's brother petitioned his wife to come over that the embassy or whoever checks my savings account to see if i have adequate funds to support my fiancee. However I had JUST landed a full-time job a few months before filing her petition. Meaning i don't really have much in my savings to pass for "Adequate" yet.

I just thought I had to be MAKING the money to support her, not actually HAVE it already. Is that true?

Thanks in advance.

All that will come at the interview.

Just as long as make above the Poverty line schedule on your latest tax return you will be fine.

If not get a Co Sponsor

After your I-129f is approved (noa2) the petition is sent to the NVC and then to the Embassy where your fiance will apply for her visa. For her interview she will need a form I-134 filled out by you. If you meet the minimum requirements (125%) you simply supply an employer letter, tax transcripts, check stubs and whatever other documents are requested. Bank statements/letters from bank are not even needed if you meet the 125% with your income. They are only needed if you are using your assets to help you meet the minimum requirements.

good luck

Thanks for the replies.

I'm guessing they will detail what i need to do once i get approved (i.e what needs to be said in an employer letter?)? my $455 just got charged today so that means they received it. Will they send me a receipt or something now? Thanks, sorry for so many questions, my dad went through the same thing about 20 some years ago, so things are different, and he is on deployment now so im kinda going through this alone right now.

That statement is incorrect

I was asked to show my Bank Statement to CO officer and I far exceeded income requirements......

Read this first then read through the GUIDES and FAQ links at the top.

You will have an EAC number on the back of your check. This is your case number and will also be on your NOA1 (I-797). As stated, you can use it to register with the uscis.gov website to track your progess.

It's best to educate yourself to the process to make things go smoothly and to try to ensure that there are no delays. VJ is a great place to do that.

You thought correct. You do not need a savings account, your employment income is just fine

They can basically ask for anything financial or they can say that you need more of something financial and not say what is it they want to see. As for support/financial, it varies quite a bit. 5 people with the same income don't necessarily need or get asked for the same exact things so it really depends. What is definite is that 125% poverty guide, but even that can be worked around with a huge savings or other assets. If you are on the border line, just do whatever you can to booster your case as best you can. For example, if you have a good employment history, supply 3 years of verified tax returns. Little extras are appreciated.
