Luggages...

:D Someone suggested that I should post this link up generally, so here it is:

Luggages!

I was hunting around for cheap but decent luggage (I'm a student, okay :crying:) so I thought I'd sniff around a bit. I checked London and...well @_@ it cost £70+ for a decent suitcase. I'd suggest you check a high street store for luggage size so you can gauge what dimensions you're looking for. I wandered into a John Lewis and innocently inquired about dimensions and good luggage. The lady was reluctant about taking something off the shelf, so I said "oh, I'll look at the website later" and she had it down in a twinkling of an eye .

Having gotten an idea, I went back, snooped around online a bit more, and found what I was looking for. I managed to get a red medium Aviation suitcase off Tripp.co.uk for £30, and I've just had it delivered (and that was within five days!) -- and it's awesome. :D So, if you guys need luggage...give it a shot. They only charge £3 for delivery, which is well worth the quality of the bag, not to mention the size. I don't know how long the offer is up for, or on what products it's on, but I'd say go for it :D. It's a bright colour so it'll be easy to spot when you're getting it outta the baggage collection at the airport.

So there we go  that's my rambling story, and in short, that's what I used to get a pretty nice suitcase. I hope this helps anyone else who's searching, unless I"ve killed everyone with emoticon poisoning...

I got mine from TK Maxx, dirt cheap and very lightweight. It's amazing how heavy some of the newer suitcases can be.

I'll have a look at Argos, see what they have there. Only has to get one way, after all! I've actually got enough air miles for a first class upgrade, so hoping to max out the baggage allowance and then cut down on shipping costs!

One site you guys might want to keep an eye on (for anything really) is hotdealsuk.co.uk there is sometimes luggage on there at great prices :D

Just for you, Miss G: :crying:

Also...I'm thinking I'm gonna have to ship stuff. I've got a lot of books, boots, fragile bits and pieces, my guitar. I'm also going to have a kitty with me so I don't want to be toting around tons of luggage while making sure he's okay too. :D But thing is, shipping won't be much for me at all because I have so little here in my dorm...

Wow, you got a great deal! I got my case from a local independent high street store - they have good offers and I got a matching hand luggage bag free with the case. If you want to take your guitar on the plane with you, I'd definitely recommend Gator flight cases. I got mine for about $80 and it and my guitar have survived 6 different flights now. There's still barely a scratch on the case and the guitar is totally fine. I always pack around the guitar with soft clothes (socks etc) so it can't move around at all, and the case is supposed to withstand about 3000lb of pressure! I usually have to take it to the 'special baggage' place at check-in and collect it from there rather than the carousel, but I've never had any problems.

Removing conditions:

10/9/10 - Package sent to Vermont

10/13/10 - NOA1 date, received 10/18

Bags ETC usually have some good sturdy suitcases for not too much, I've bought a few of the soft cases and they've weathered up better than some of the more expensive cases I'd been borrowing from my folks, one medium I've been using for each trip I made back and forth between the UK and here that I got in store for around 12 quid, left it here for Paul when I had to go back for my interview and he's used it several times visiting me.

Plus they do some pretty distinctive designs so not easily lost.... although hubby had to explain the graffiti looking bag covered in planes hearts and who knows what else is on it was actually mine, to everyone that asked what was up with the interestingly patterned case haha. either way absolutely great case for the price.
