Hi All,

It is looking like it will be necessary for me to hire an attorney to handle a I-751 problem -

Does anybody know of a good immigration attorney in Virginia ? - preferably in the Richmond area?

Thanks,

Paul

The thought of immigration attorneys makes me want to vomit. There is little if anything they can do, the laws are cut a dried and the immigrants have little access to due process. Typically, if you meet conditions you get approved, if you do not, you don't. And an attorney has no magic wand to meet conditions if you do not. If it is worth a few thousand to you not to give details here and have attorney/client privilege, then by all means. Otherwise you will get better, faster and FREE advice here if you pose your question.

Good luck. And no, I cannot recommend a "good" immigration attorney. The best thing I can suggest is to familiarize yourself with the law, then when the attorney lies to you after the first 30 seconds, you will know it and can bolt for the door before handing over money. The "good" one is the one that can talk for 3.5 minutes and not lie to you.

Hi Paul, sorry to hear about your situation. I can reccommend an attorney since I live in VA myself. But the attorney is located in Silver Spring, MD. I only consulted him for my process so I didnt really use him but I have heard that he is really really good and has experience in immigration law for decades. He is also pleasant work with and unlike other attorney's, he doesnt lie to make you feel good, he'll tell you the truth. For exapmle with my case, he told me that he does not really need to represent me since it's not necessary so he only got the money for consulting me. If you are interested, please give me your email address and I give you his info.

good luck!

If you feel that your 751 has a problem you MUST go for a lawyer. AILIA.org is a good way to start. And better if someone recommended you to an AILIA lawyer. Just like the poster birdlover. Maybe expensive but will give you peace of mind.

Most problems have been discussed on VJ before. You can search for your problem and see if it has been addressed. If you feel comfortable, you can share it on here and see what advice you may receive. I personally would not get an attorney unless it was something that I could not find an answer for by calling the 800#, getting an INFOPASS, searching on VJ, asking on VJ, doing a google search, etc. Good luck with your decision. Remember, there is a wealth of information out there to research or to ask questions.

Hi PaulD,

Sorry to hear of your immigration situation. I hope that you will be able to find a good immigration attorney that will be able to help with your situation.

In answer to your question, yes, I do know of a good immigration attorney, which I have used before for my 'unusual' AOS case. However, they are located in New York State, and not in Virginia. I didn't use them for the I-751 though, as that was pretty much straight-forward and to save on expenses we just did it ourselves without them. Regardless, overall I found them to be helpful, professional, and experienced, and will use them again if I ever needed them again (though I probably won't need to).

If you would like more information about this immigration attorney, feel free to PM me for more information regarding this too.

Hope this helps. Good luck on the rest of your immigration situation too.
