i hv painfully only gained 17 lbs coz of my thyroid, gaining was a problem but then losing will be equally a problem. I have only gained on my belly. I still fit into the same bras (no change in ####### size) and even panties Wonder if belly will ever be the same again.

i wonder that about my belly too. i guess i'll have to wait and see. it really depends on genetics. some people get really big and have no stretch marks and the skin goes back to normal. some get a tiny belly and loads of stretch marks and the belly looks nasty after.

Yes, the belly will be the same again but it will take time, it won't happen overnight. Have you ever seen that Kate Hudson pic where she runs on the beach in a bikini and her belly is all wrinkled? Well, that's what it will look like a few weeks after birth. It will get better and the skin will get tighter again. I have had two babies in two years and I'm absolutely ok with my belly, it's flat, two tiny strechmarks and that is is. Only my bellybutton is different. It popped out early in both pregnancies and is still not back in but also not sticking out anymore, just different.

not everybody's belly. i've seen people that gained lots of weight, and when theior belly go back to normal it's never the same, the skin never goes back to being as tight again. when they have excessive skin and you can see it, no matter how much the person works out or is skinny.

After my first baby, my stomach was OK. But, I barely showed, even in my last month. After the second one, it was not the same. (My tummy that time was huge!) I gained the same amount of weight with each pregnancy (35 pounds). I have a little bit of wrinkly on my midsection and my belly is loose, no matter how much weight I lose or sit ups I do. I need a tummy tuck! You just won't know until you've had the baby what kind of tummy you will end up with. But I think with the first one you should be OK.

Oh! Daniel and I so want to take beach holiday when he comes back from his deployment. I guess its all 1 piece swimsuits for me at least this summer. I think about it a lot though (can't help it!) just don't want to lose my body because of the pregnancy. Thinking too shallow??

@danielparul, many women think like you. i know i'd hate having to wear a 1 piece swimsuit at all times. i only wore it once and it was in brazil last year because i was 14 weeks and my belly didn;'t look exactly pregnant, it could be easily confused to loads of beer

Hmmm maybe. But I've always worn one pieces only because I'm very modest. Of course now it is because I have less than perfect tummy too. :-P

not necessarily. i've seen women with great bodies wearing it. But usually people choose to wear it to hide something they're not happy about.
