I'm scale crazy. I know I weighed myself after getting home from the hospital, but I don't remember how much I had lost now. I'd be guessing to say around 10-15 pounds. Most weight gained in pregnancy seems to be FAT. :-P However, breast feeding sure does help the remaining pounds go away fast.

I was expecting an 50 lbs baby to explain the weight gain  . He was just 2oz short of 9lbs and the rest came off with breastfeeding.

I lost something like 10lbs. 8lbs of baby and 2lbs of placenta and amniotic fluid.

I was disappointed.

I'd guess that is what you would lose immediately for most women. Extra fluid takes a bit longer to work itself out. I was curious what I weighed, but a scale never presented itself. I don't keep them at home. If you gained 302853lbs this pregnancy, only about 10-12 of that is going to be immediately lost.

I always strive to be exact. :P

But really, barring some other medical condition, you are not going to immediately lose a whole bunch more weight than whatever the baby and its associated products weighed. That's probably why no one bothers to weigh you immediately. If you gained a lot of fat, it's going to be sticking around until you burn it off. Some people it falls off in a few months, for others, it is forever.

whoops I misvoted then - I picked 24 lbs gone (that was in 2 weeks) I gained 35 total and now after 7 weeks I have 6 lbs to go to be back to my prepreggo weight.

However, 2 days after I brought Ryan home - I'd only lost 2 lbs. Go figure, he weighed over 7 at birth. But I had a csection and was irrigated so much do to complications they had to put a drain in my side so I think it was due to so much water retention.

@Shannon: It was most likely the IV Fluids and the water retention that comes with all the medication. I looked like a balloon after my CS and I peed all night so the nurse had to change the catheter bag every few hours...it was ridiculous.

I know that my best friend (who was originally very skinny) came home from the hospital and 2 days later was wearing her pre-pregnancy jeans (Nessa will know brazilian women wear tight jeans mostly) and looking like she had never been pregnant. With her clothes off of course her belly was distended still and her boobs were bigger than usual but she ate well and took care of herself through the pregnancy and I believe she was able to pretty much just gain the baby weight plus placenta weight. Even on her pics she looks funny big belly skinny arms and legs/ankles.

From your pics Nessa one can tell you're also pretty much gaining belly weight mostly and will prolly be back to normal fast.

no i haven't gained belly only. i stopped fitting on my pants when i was like 15 weeks, and that's not because they wouldn't close on my belly, is because they wouldn't go through my thighs. my thighs and arms are way bigger, and the rest is all belly.

i'm glad i didn't get the xtremely chubby face, i'd hate that lol

Well, of course your hips are bigger your body is getting ready for birth, my friend got that too, but like you said a bit of hip and arm is not the same as moms that really get big all around, I imagine you'll have no trouble going back to normal, plus you seem like a disciplined person to me. ;)

My friend got slightly cheeky, but her weight fluctuations are always first noticed on her cheeks.
