My husband wants to go back to RP he is getting frustrated here mostly with the culture and stuff. So we are thinking about our options once he gets his 10 year gc or a citizenship here. He doesnt know how long its gonna take the economy here to change for the better and we dont have a lot of income here. We want to try to start a business but I only have an income here, I dont make a lot of money. I get upset that we can't do anything cuz we dont have a lot of $$ even to go on a simple vacation. My husband gets frustrated even when he applies for a simple job I think he gets insulted by how they treat him, even though I tell him not to take it personal. Sorry guys just venting thanks for listening.

Has your husband considered joining the US Military? He can as a green card holder and it expedites his citizenship as well. I wouldn't recommend the Army due never-ending long deployments but the Navy and Air Force would be good options.

??? your husband was expecting an easy ride here? he's poor in RP he's poor here. Difference is in RP he will ALWAYS be poor here at least he has the chance to make a better life for himself. IF he's willing to work for it.

I don't know if you noticed but we are in a bad recession life is gonna be tougher garenteed. Tell him instead of whining and complaining go to school or do something. Make life here better instead of complaining how bad it is.l

Me and my filipina wife are in the VERY SAME boat u are in. We are having very hard times. We have no money to do anything at all. But what did we do? we are now both in college me accounting wife nursing. We are not sitting crying how bad things are or complaining that we can't take a vacation or do what we want. So many people are in your shoes Welcome to real life

My wife has been here for 2 yrs now and she doesn't want to run away from these problems instead she just roles up here sleeves and works harder to overcome our situation.

I wish u the best of luck but it does make me alittle angry to hear people cry and complain that they can't avail themselves of all the luxuries in a time like this when sooooooo many people are suffering because of reduced pay losing their job etc.

good luck

What about a move?

In Dallas we are not feeling a recession.

Back in the early 90's when the USA had a rough time, Texas was basically untouched.

Texas has outpaced the USA economy a few times in the past.

Hi,

You could start a business here even though you dont have a lot of money.

If he has any hobby that he could turn into income generating activity, much better. My husband's hobby is playing drum. When i learned the amount of money he is earning from his gig, well, he does not have to convince me to study bass guitar. :)

I also have a cousin in california. He started by cooking filipino dishes to his friends. His friends liked his cooking, eventually, ordered from him. Cooking filipino dishes is his source of income now.

I only been here for less than 3 months. I would say that life here is not easy. Still, there are opportunities. You just need to find them.

I pray that you will be able to overcome what you are going thru right now. (F)

the military is always a good choice imo.

btw, the navy is known for 6 month deployments at sea, and the air force is catching their fair share of deployments too.

Don't give up just yet. You were in America now and going back is really not the answer. You have more chances to better your lives here than in Philippines, more opportunities. I agree with the others your husband can join in the military for a while and you too can go to school .My husband used to work with the Air force also for 10 years but he is RN now. Think positive and pray I know you will overcome this.

his right... people think once u gt here in america u will automically become rich. well.. they are wrong. once ur poor ur always be poor bt when ur here u hve a lot of chnces of reaching ur dreams. atleast here... even ur not a college graduate u hve chnce to wrk. unlike back home. u should be professional wth degree to have a decent job. well not having a money is nt a prblem. just be patient and wrk. any job... as long as its decent its good. education is the best thing to improve your life.

Funny he doesn't like the way he's treated here, in the RP, the rich treat the poor like dirt.... RP is one of the most status sensitive countries I've ever been.

He likely be fine though.... tough times right now but it won't always be like this.... unlike in the RP.

I hear that there is nothing but steers and queers in Texas. I don't see no horns in your picture. So which one are you? :jest::huh:

He just needs to deal with the reality of things for now and be very levelheaded before jumping into any decisions. You've gone far for each other to be together. It's not the time to back out and allow sore egos get in the way. You have to survive - you don't have much of a choice.

You have to tell your husband that he can't give up. My parents moved to Canada for better life. It took us a long time to be financially stable. I know the economy is not doing well right now. but other people are in worse shape. There are others with kids to feed. I suggest taking it one step at a time. I know its cliche but patience is a virtue. when we moved from philippines, i remember we were always involved in a filipino group/community events. It helped with our transition and we learned how to get around the city, what to look for, meet new people, etc. Maybe you could look into something your husband would be interested in being a part of? it would help having some friends to share the tough times with.
