confused!!

Hey Guys,

Which shot that you get when you are in the US requires a series of two shots? I have just been to the doctors to receive my second shot of what i thought was for the varicella shot but they say that is only one shot. I have had my Vericella shot while i have been here and also i have had Td which i was also told only requires one shot. If any one could shed any light on this i would really appreciate it.

Yeah Varicella requires only one shot. I can tell u this for sure cuz I had the same shot in the US.

i posted a similar question a few days ago bc the civil surgeon i went to on the weekend refused to fill out the I693A bc they said varicella was TWO shots, not one. i looked here and there on the web and USCIS is vague. they just say get it, they don't say how many. this one thing is holding up the entire AOS process and i'm getting frustrated. i am going to call around to a few more clinics (aside from the ones i already called that won't do anything without a FULL physical which is total bs!).

apparently it is 2 vaccinations for varicella.

well i have just got a copy of my I-693 Vaccination supplement and where it says results at the bottom it all vaccine requirement met. As long as it says this on my supplement form does that mean that it will be all cool with immigration now??

I would definitely say so! Half the time i don't think USCIS actually even looks at those forms. They just want to have it. Unfortunately, i can only find doctors who either say I need 2 jabs or an entire physical. Just got off the phone with one of the latter. I am so tired of this nonsense...

I had to have 2 Varicella shots. I had the first one in Australia before arriving in the US and the 2nd shot after arriving here. My doctor in Australia said that the shots had to be 3 months apart and no longer than 6 months between I am not sure if that is correct or not but that is what I did to have my vaccinations up to date.

naya you arent required to get another full medical if your K1 visa medical is still in date (ie up to one year after you had it) - USCIS don't require you to repeat the medical - so don't fall for the docs saying you NEED one..its not true.

Looks like you might have to take the other shot tho - if its a choice between a $20 shot and more delay - take the shot.

I've had chicken pox already (Id say luckily but it wasnt lucky - I got it 6 years ago from my darling daughter who was barely troubled by it. and with my temp of 102 degrees for 3 days straight and being delerious, I thought I was gonna die, so - I think I'd rather have had the dayum shot!)

the cost of the shot is no worry as its covered in my insurance (thank goodness!). but unfortunately, its a delay either way. either i wait a month for the 2nd shot and then send the complete AOS packet... or i send it now with just the DS-3025 (or whatever the number is) and proof of getting the 1st pox shot here in the US and face a 50/50 chance of an RFE. if i get the RFE, it buys me time to get the 2nd shot. of course, like a few lucky folks, they may accept my AOS with just the stuff i have. its a crapshoot.

i know i don't have to do another medical. i've been screaming that at the top of my lungs to at least half a dozen local civil surgeons over the past few weeks! they choose not to hear me.

the one place that will just do the paper without demanding a full physical is the one that says i need the 2nd shot...
