waitiing for marriage certificate!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey guys!! I am sooo frustrated. We got married a week and a half ago in Vegas and the recorders office is telling me that they still haven't received our certificate from the minister yet! It can take a few more weeks just for us to receive our copy so that we can apply for AOS and EAD. Its unbelievable, I'm not even dealing with USCIS and I have to wait forever!!!! I am going back to school on the fall and we really need my husband to get his job and this just delays everything. I am so stressed!!! :angry: I am sorry but I really needed to get that out! Is there anything that we can do?? Has anyone else had this problem??

I understand your frustration. When we applied for our marriage license the woman working at the county office gave me a good tip. She suggested I return the license myself so that I could get copies of the marriage certificate immediately and she noted my "new wife" would need a special copy with additional information for changing status that is usually not included in the standard marriage certificate. That woman saved me a lot of waiting and an extra trip to the county office.

We almost got married in Vegas but then opted against it once they told us it would take about 6 weeks to get the marriage certificate...good luck :yes:

Yup, right. I mean I dont know about Vegas, but it took like 5-6 weeks before we got our marriage license (Texas) back in 2004

Call the minister or the chapel. I got my marriage certificate less than 2 weeks after the marriage which was at may 29th 2006. The papers for AOS arrived in Chicago today.

But of course, if you go there you will get it right away. I needed 10 minutes to get it.

There is nothing wrong with marrying in Vegas. But the processing of the documents needs some time (up to 30 to 45 days).
