DS-156 form; Visa refused?

I'm far off from actually submitting the DS-156, but I had a question about it regarding question 31. I have lived in the United States from 2000 to 2007 (I'm a Dutch citizen) under my parents' E2 visa as a dependent (I was 10 at the time we received the visas). However, the renewal of this visa was denied and we therefore returned to the Netherlands in late 2007. Since I was a dependent of my parents under this visa, what would I fill in under questions 30 and 31? What will the impact of the refusal be on getting my K1 visa?

By the way, I asked them for clarification, and my mother told me that the visa renewal wasn't denied, but that they wanted to see more evidence (kind of like an RFE? they wanted to see a business plan) at the embassy. She mailed it and never heard back from them. Still not sure as to what I should fill in on the DS-156 though.

The visa, denial, non-renewal, whatever it was, was your parents, not you. Have you even ever applied for a visa? Probably not. Doesn't sound like a reasom that would affect them, or you, for future visas.

I would answer this question..."NO" and let it go at that. Prepare some written explanation, get lots of details from your parents and have it in case someone asks. I doubt it.

There will likely be no impact on your K-1 Visa.

I'm unclear on the laws and uncertain as to how the Embassy views dependant visas for minors and/or if you should include it. But I wouuld imagine that adding a supplement with all of your details and noting that attachment on the form itself would suffice. That way your covered either way if it comes up.

good luck.

Okay, thanks. What about question 30? Should I just put something like "dependent under parents' E2 visa?"

Also, I had a question about the police certificate. Since I have lived in the US for 7 years consecutively, am I required to get the certificate or can they run a background check themselves? If I do have to get it myself, where would I get it?
