Don't worry about the restriction to your SS card coz' you can now work by showing your GC. What I did before was, I went and update my SS card and they issued a new SS card without the written restriction on it.

Thank you all for replies. I was just a bit confused with a word "conditional" on the greencard but I guess it is still a greencard so should be enough.

Quote from the governments web site:

Question

When I first applied for a Social Security card, I was issued a card that says, "Not Valid for Employment". I now have permission to work from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Will I be issued a different number, or will I have to apply to adjust my current number?

Answer

If your work eligibility has changed or if you have become a U.S. citizen, you must apply for a replacement card. Your replacement card will no longer read “Not Valid for Employment,” but you will retain the same Social Security number.

To get a replacement card:

Complete an Application For A Social Security Card (Form SS-5); and

Show us documents proving your:

Immigration status;

Work eligibility; and

Identity.

Take (or mail) your completed application and documents to your local Social Security office. If you live in the New York City metropolitan area, Las Vegas NV, Orlando FL, Sacramento, CA or Phoenix AZ you may need to apply in person at your local Social Security Card Center.

Dear VJers, could you plese repeat one more time for me if I can now remove "For work only with DHS authorization" from my SS card??? I just received my conditional GC.

Thank you.

DO worry about the "DHS authorization" stamp. Once your 2 yr conditional GC expires, and you still have a card such captioned... complications complications.

I went to the SSA ofc today and applied for a new card without a caption. Should be here next week. Showed my cGC and my passport, and all was good. Why postpone it? It will just add more hassle later down the road.
