I know that with my husband, and the paperwork for the I-864, im pretty sure as the sponser, it is required that you send in some kind of paperwork showing that you have something. even if you just have assets. even tho i dont make enough money, i sent in my tax info for the last 2 years, (bc thats all the taxes i have filed b/c of my age) and proof of all my assets. both my parents sponsered my husband as well and sent in alot of their informaion. As the petitioner of the immigrant, you have to show something. Ive read it in the paperwork, so you might want toread through it. any1 feel free to correct me if im wrong, or post the information if they can find it.

When you're asking general immigration questions that aren't really MENA specific, it's best to post them in the appropriate forum. You'll probably have better luck in the IR-1/CR-1 forum. From what I know, even if you have co-sponsors, you must fill out a sponsorship form for yourself, and that includes tax forms. Hopefully, someone on the IR-1/CR-1 forum will know what you need to do since you haven't filed taxes.

Even though you do not meet the incomce requirements you are the primary sponsor and still need to fill out the I-864.

If you have not filed taxes you need to include a statement as to why you did not.

I, too, did not file taxes for the past three years. So I attach a note to my I-864 stating that I did not file because my income did not require me to do so, signed it, and attached a page from the IRS tax guide stating the filing requirements. Add this to the I-864 that you fill out. If you live in the same household as your parents, one of them also files an I-864 and the other one will file an I-864A. hope this helps ;)

If dad makes the majority of the money, he fills out an I-864, to add moms income she fills out the I-864A;)

its depends upon how much income your dad is making. if he is meeting the requirement than your mom doesn't need to file I-864A.

we had they same issue but my wife always file her returns. She didn't make enough to sponsor me so we use her mom as Joint sponsor and filed I-864A but she need to file I-864.

Why is there a box for the second joint sponsor if they have to fill out an I864A?
