I started my diet the day after Memorial Day last year and I have since lost 60 pounds. Ever since January 2009, it seems like I have hit a brick wall. I have tried everything. Walking two miles a day and there have even been times when I did not eat for days :( . My doctor says that I am now in my range for my height/weight but it is at the upper end and I just want to lose another 40 pounds to say I lost 100 pounds  ! I just feel like my body is fighting me tooth and nail to stay at this weight and at 30 years old, it is just not like when I was 22 in college trying to lose weight. I just feel like a failure. :(

maybe that is your body's ideal weight?

also, if you lose another 40 you will no longer be in YOUR range, will you? chill, be happy :)

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Anyone who has succeeded in losing 60 pounds since Memorial Day is NOT a failure - you are a success. Sometimes, when training in a physical activity the body hits a wall. No matter how much you practice or try, you just can't seem to get beyond the stall. What you need to do then is take a break. You change the routine, you do something different than what you have been working on, and then you come back refreshed. Suddenly things begin to fall into place and you start to improve again. View these few months as a break - give yourself permission to 'stand still' right now while your body adjusts to its new metabolism. Just keep eating right and exercising but remove the pressure from yourself for the time being. Give yourself another month or two at this weight and then start to think about what you can do to lose more weight. Don't cut too many calories because what happens then is your body thinks it is starving and so becomes even better at cutting its metabolic rate so it will 'survive' the starvation. Keep eating good and healthy foods and reassure your body it isn't starving. Congratulate yourself on your accomplishments and give yourself permission to take a break from the weight loss for a time while your body adjusts. You'll get the rest of it off too - it is just a matter of waiting a bit more for the right time. Good luck, and congratulations

You lost 60 punds! That is great! You are very successful!!

I am starting a fitness program for my school and have a suggestion for you. Buy a pedometer and measure your walking. There are several good webistes about this issue. Type in 10,000 step walking programs. 10,00 steps = about 4 miles.

And do not ever just stop eating food. That can do more harm than good. Just make sure your eating sensible. Lots of fruits and veggies. And cut out all the sodas and chips. Hopefully you have already done that.

Just make sure you build up to 10,000. Don't just start doing that tomorrow.

Don't feel too badly. I started my new life style on January 20th and proceeded to loose 22 pounds and then my body hit the wall. I think it thought it was starving because I have since gained 14 back but was still eating 1200 calories a day.

Well, I have upped my calorie intake to about 1600 to 1800. I continue to go to the gym 3 to 4 days a week but now have started walking at work. Yesterday I walked about 3 miles or 6400 steps and today I did about 5 miles or about 9500 steps. I want to get to about 12,000 steps a day not counting what I do at the gym.

If you think you are stuck increase your walking.

i think you've done great so far. it's very common to hit a brick wall after a long period of dieting. your body gets adjusted to it. If it was me, i'd change my diet completely and change my exercise routine.

Girl, you know you can come to my house for a month. I guarantee you will loose 100 pounds...and you know why, too.

0k, I'm off to go look for food while I can......

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

I have been walking a lot, like about 5 miles a day and it seems to be paying off. I weighed myself against this morning and have now lost 9 of the 10 pounds I had gained back so believe the walking really helps. I also go to the gym 3 or 4 times a week.

Hang in there, there are always plateaus to deal with but you can over come them and meet your goals.
