Child with permaent resident status but attends school in native country?

Has anyone been in a situation where their child has permanent resident status but continues to go to school in their native country for awhile?

I htink he/she would need to apply for a re entry permit, I know of a girl who went back to colombia to finsh here High school there and it was for 1 1/2 years but she neededa re entry permit as she was gone longer than 6 months. Hope it helps

What if the child comes back to the states every 3-4 months or so?

My brother and I did this, but that was many years ago, in the 80s. We would come back to the states Christmas, Easter and summer breaks. We were greencard holders then and we had no issues. The longest were were gone was 7 months. The laws may have changed, I'm not sure.
