Is there any intelligent life out there?

I believe there is life out there but I dont think that here on Earth it has been spotted.

That's also what I believe in, but also I don't question myself about intelligent life out there but life in general, even if just bacteria, protozoa, or other simple forms of life.

IMO, the odds of intelligent life out there is really high when you think the Earth is small planet on a tiny solar system on a small galaxy. Too much space out there to believe we're alone.

There has to be since there are millions of planets in the universe. Although some scientists say that the probability of any those planets having any kind of earth like resemblance is slim to none.

I'm sure there is life out there.

Intelligent - certain of that too.

Visiting earth - perhaps not. Distances are big. Really big. Our own galaxy is over 100,000 light years across. (which means a beam of light would take 100,000 years to get from one side to the other, for reference, it takes light 8 minutes to get from our Sun to the Earth)

If they (the other life) could travel the distances, I am afraid they would have no interest in our puny little world, circling an average little star.

Our own signals (radio/tv/etc) really only started out last century or so. (I believe the 1897, Tesla was sending out radio waves), so they are within a few light years of our planet. So the chances of others detecting them would be very small. (not many stars within our "bubble" that has planets)

The Kardashev scale is a method of measuring a civilization's level of technological advancement. I II III.

We in earth are currently at 0 (we don't even make it to a type I)

Some speculate that most, if not all civilizations never make it past 0 or I. They destroy themselves with nukes, or they allow their planet to die (pollution, asteroid hit, etc...).

They think that if we ever get to travel faster than light, and visit other stars/planets - we will find the burned out ruins of other life...

Would be nice to know for sure though...

We have only used radio for a hundred years, and radio uses radio waves, and trying to use radio waves to learn if there is intelligence out there. Are there different kinds of waves we can use? If so, we haven't discovered those yet.
