first off-- i apologize for not knowing where to correctly post this.

ruby and i are in the process of filing our I--751.

at the same time we are filing an AMENDMENT TO PASSPORT, with the Philippines Consulate ,because of her name change through marriage.

in doing so we have come upon even more paper work that seems to need to be filed with the Philippines Consulate. they are - REPORT OF MARRIAGE ABROAD, REPORT OF BIRTH, for our daughter born here in US. can any one share with me any info , such as how crucial these are ?

thanks for any input

no, that wasn't my question, but now i will be looking into that also.

my question is --how important is it to file the report of birth , report of marriage, with the Phil. consulate.

will it have importance later in my daughters life when we return to the Philippines?

Are you planing on returning to the Philippines to live or just to visit?

If to live, then it may be useful for your child to have dual citizenship, ans well as you having dual citizenship, you won't have to worry about your green-card.

If to visit, then no need to register this information with the Philippines.

I did all of the above. The report of marriage is one of the requirement to have ur wife's passport ammended. You can not ammend her passport without reporting your marriage first. I gave birth to our son in the Philippines 7 months ago and reported his birth in the USEM in Manila to get my son his US passport and his certificate of US citizenship.

Correct me if i am wrong ..the Birth certificate of your child is enough since he is born here. You only need to report his birth when he is born abroad.

You can get ur child a Phil. passport which makes him dual citizen and he dont have to pay his stay when he stay in the Philippines for longer period of time.

All this process are very easy ,you can do it by mail.
