Does USCIS take Western Union?

I'm having trouble getting a check or money order from Thailand.

USCIS said that I need a check or money order from a U.S. Financial Institution. Does that mean Western Union counts? Has anyone used them to do this?

I called USCIS in Bangkok today, and I'm only feeling more confused. Please help me with your experiences paying for I-129F from abroad.

No western union doesnt count.

What u should do it whatever the amount u need, u should ask ur family to make "MONEY ORDER"/or write the "CHeck" and send it to u

By either EXPRESS MAIL/FED EX,to be safe.

Hope this gave u some idea.

Good Luck

if you bought a WU money order it would be OK... I do not know if you can buy MO from WU outside the USA

So, what happened at Citibank in Bangkok? Wouldn't they sell you a USD money order?

Dan - Do you live in Thailand? If you have for more than six months, you may be able to marry there and file DCF.

http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/immigrant_vis...-questions.html

"Q: I am engaged/married to a US citizen. How do I get a visa to live with him/her in the United States?Your spouse or fiancée must file a petition for you with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) in the United States. In some cases where an American resides in Thailand, the American may file the petition in Thailand at the USCIS office in Bangkok. They should go to the USCIS website for information about filing a petition, and refer to this website for information about the immigrant visa interview. The Embassy will only interview you after the petition process is complete, which can take 6 to 18 months depending on the case and the office reviewing the petition."

It is typically much faster than filing with the USCIS in the USA.

Here is USCIS contact info for Bangkok:

Then may I suggest not quoting a previous post that you are not responding to. That is why the quote feature exists so the readers can have easy reference to what you are responding too....

YMMV

I am in the same situation except my fiance is in the Philippines. I was going to have her go to western union tomorrow by I guess that won't work?

I looked it up and found there is a Citibank in Cagayan. She doesn't have an account there but they should still let her buy one for a fee correct?

I expect so, but she can always call first.
