Hi, I am a new member. I got married in Thailand last month and my husband will get the K3 visa in USA . I would like to know long dose it take the K3 visa? Thank you.

Welcome to VJ! It is currently taking 9 to 12 months depending on the service center your husband is required to file (based on his where he lives). Go to the "immigration timelines" above to view the data.

Another option would be the CR-1/IR-1 visa. The K-3 is a non-immigrant visa and requires you to adjust status to obtain permanent resident status (a green card). The CR-1/IR-1 is an immigrant visa gets you a green card upon entry into the USA. The CR-1/IR-1 allows you to work in the USA sooner, as the K3 is not work authorized without an EAD card from the USCIS. If you haven't filed yet, I suggest reading the guides on VJ and come back with any questions you may have.

Definitely consider the CR1 route rather than the K3, especially because these days they take almost the same amount of time for processing.

07/20/11 - Interview - passed

07/20/11 - Oath ceremony - same day as interview
