It would be funny, except it sounds horribly like somebody doesn't want to accept the results of free and fair elections. I don't think the Founding Father's had that in mind when they set up your constitution. Again, I am sure this is not a generally held opinion, just one that springs from the far right, but it leaves an awfully sour taste, not to mention, I just can't imagine anyone saying something like that about the opposition where I come from.

In a lot of ways the US does seem deeply divided against itself (on many issues) and experiencing an identity crisis.

There already seems to be the west coast, the east coast, and "fly over county". It does seem that the closer your neighbors are, the more "socially conscious" you are.

Like what rest? However, if you want to quit, go right ahead and go live on welfare, I am quite sure that is much better than earning a decent wage and paying taxes.

Works well for a lot of people in your mother country. Wasn't there an article I posted a few years back about a guy who quit his job in the UK because it paid better to be on the dole. He had over 5 kids so he was financially better off on the dole.

You right wing nuts and whiners seem to have missed an important event a few months back:

Obama Wins Election; McCain Loses as Bush Legacy Is Rejected

The majority of the country is tired of your bull. There was a vote. You folks lost. Get over it.

Come on dude. Bush wins by 51%, the country is divided. Obama wins by 52% the country is united.

But anyway, personally I agree with what Obama is doing.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

College education is nice to have for everybody.

But you do realize that in countries where anyone can afford a degree engineers like yourself earn an average wage and in a lot of case much less than a number of blue collar workers.

God another delusional attack of intestinal incontinence... yippee.

At least come up with a valid rebuttal than a personal attack.

Works well in what way? (and are we pretending that Australia doesn't support its unemployed today?) Sure, if you are a very low wage earner anyway, it might be a toss up between what the state will give you to be on income support (not unemployment by the way, you don't get that if you voluntarily leave your employment) and what you might be able to earn. Despite that though, most people still opt to work, in my 'mother country' because of the other benefits of working versus not doing so. But, and here is the crucial point here, the over all effect is still someone who is on a very LOW income.

Therefore anyone, anyone at all who is earning a reasonable wage (in which case they will not be heavily burdened by taxes) or an excellent wage (where the current highest % tax is what, 35%) is infinitely better off continuing to work and pay those taxes than give up the job to become a welfare recipient because you are earning a decent/good to excellent income. Therefore, the whole premise that one might give up ones job to benefit from the welfare system because they 'have it so good' is completely bogus.

No surprises there then.

Well, it's funny how when Bush won the first election, you didn't see people all hysterical and micro analyzing the minutia of each hourly action of the white house let alone suggest that the NE and west coast break off from the rest of the country. The letter is stunningly naïve.
