I'm in the final stages of assembling the K1 visa with my fiance Tera. We are both living in Thailand at the moment.

I need to draw a money order or a cashiers check from a bank based in the U.S. in U.S. funds.

I don't know where I can get that kind of money order from here in Bangkok. I do have access to a U.S. bank account, but no checks. I'd like to do something from Thailand or else our application could get put on hold for several weeks while I sort money out.

Does anyone know what money orders are accepted from the USCIS?

Thanks,

Dan

If all else fails, read the instructions.

1. The check or money order must be drawn on a bank or other financial institution located in the United States and must be payable in U.S. currency; and

C. If you live outside the United States, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands, contact the nearest U.S. consulate or embassy for instructions on the method of payment.

Anyway, just go to Citibank in Bangkok.

Wow thanks for being so helpful!

Pushbrk,

I did read the instructions. It says to contact the embassy if I don't live in those territories correct? Well I did contact the embassy. Visa services is not contactable by e-mail unless you have a case number, so I called American Citizen services and guess what?

It took me around 5 minutes of wasting time with Thai secretaries to get an American on the phone, ultimately she admitted that she didn't have a clue.

I will try Citibank, but I would still appreciate some advice from someone in a similar situation.
