I like how Regina sounds like... nevermind. ^_^

I'm so glad I'm not the only warped one out here. Not knowing where this place was or how to pronounce it a few years ago, I pronounced it Regeena. My husband was quick to correct me on the pronunciation and to tell me where it's located. I never heard where it was located because I was too busy laughing at the pronunciation and to this day, I still giggle my a$$ off. It's good to be juvenile sometimes.

I could never move there because I could never learn to spell Saskatchewan without help.

You don't have to learn to spell it, just draw it.

Come on you guys, this is MY province! St. Louis winters rarely go below 0, and we only have some snow about every 10 years, but heck, I'm frozen here most of the winter. Saskatchewan has a dry cold, and 17 here feels WAY worse than -40 C there. Here is a picture for your viewing pleasure. ;) Now, doesn't this look like fun? :)

haha A good friend of mine lived in "the Skatch" for a few years when she went to the prestigious athletic high school, Notre dame College in Wilcox, SK. She loved it out there.

We always referred to Regina as "The Reggie" to avoid saying Regina. Come on. It's funny!

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Just realized that i've been pronouncing the name of this city since..... I heard it. But I have an excuse, I went to school with a girl in Junior High whose name was Regina, and pronounced Re-geena.

My dad went to school at Notre Dame at Wilcox. Iactually attended hockey school there 1 summer. few more hrs and I'm on my way to Stoon

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Bren and I have been thinking about Canada a lot lately (one of us is interviewing with U Vic next week :secret: ) --- and after living in SK for a few years myself I can tell you: nowhere (except luvly Mexico) have I found nicer and friendlier people. Go Roughriders!!!!

Good luck on ones Interview at U Vic, loved Victoria, the weather there spoils ya. Lot of nice small coffee shops there as well.
