Hi all,

Well our AOS interview is fast approaching, it will be this Thursday. I am really starting to get worried about our evidence. I haven't been able to prepare as much as I had hoped so far as my husband Craig has been quite ill and has just has surgery last week. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

So far we have:

Copies of all forms sent, originals and copies of Birth Certs, Passports, Marriage Cert & Licence, his Divorce Decree and all correspondence with USCIS/Dept. Homeland Security.

Financial:

Joint Checking and Savings Accounts

Joint Credit Card

Joint Jewelers Account (wedding rings)

That is really all we have finanically at the moment. I am not on the car insurance as I'm not driving here/don't have a U.S. licence. I can't be added to utility bills, can't be added to his health insurance, am hoping to be able to put my name as beneficiary on his life insurance in time for the interview. We live in a family owned house, we don't have a mortgage or pay rent, the house is in my father-in-law's name. What is really concerning me though is that we did not file tax returns as we are not required to. This seems to be a big piece of evidence that the AOs look for at interview and we cant provide it. We have already given them all the evidence from the IRS that we're not required to file and they have accepted that, but now it is bothering me. I would feel happier if we had more financial evidence, but don't know what else to do in the time that we have.

For general relationship evidence, we have loads. Hundreds of pictures including us with both his and my families, wedding cards, christmas cards, plenty of mail addressed to both of us or to me at the house, airplane tickets, hotel receipts etc.

Is there anything else we can do in the time that we have left?

Thank you

Kate

Your evidence sounds pretty good to me. I don't quite understand about your tax return situation, but the most important thing is you need to show them that you meet the poverty guidelines: you can do this by getting co-sponsor and don't forget to bring their latest tax return.

Get your Father in law to draw up a rental agreement or just a wee letter stating you live there. If you can get a couple of letters notarised from friends, that would be good too and the life insurance beneficiary if possible.

You can also get blockbuster cards as a joint account.

good luck

Thank you for the suggestions, any others would be greatly appreciated.

I guess I'm starting to panic, didnt sleep last night, then finally got to sleep at 6am intending to sleep for 2-3 hours and just woke up at 4pm!!! Now I cant find the 3 packets of photos that we just had developed, nor one of our albums with about 90 pictures from last year :( They must be around the house somewhere!!

Anyway, thank you again

Kate

P.S. We were at my Father-In-Laws yesterday, it being father's day and just totally slipped my mind to ask him to write that letter, but we're going out tomorrow too since there's always a ton of work to be done out on the farm and Craig said he'll ask him then. So fingers crossed.

I believe the OP means that she wants to show that they filed joint taxes.
