Well, I did not post the comment that the person sent me, because I am not going to point fingers at anyone. Most of you have been a BIG help to me and my fiancé. We all get a little stressed when it comes to something we want SOON. I'm not mad at anyone. So no worries there. I just felt that I should let some of you know not to be so rough on people. If I'm going to pick on someone, it's as a joke, and I say that I am joking. I love to have fun, and I also have a sense of humor. And occasional CONSTRUCTIVE criticism is ok. I don't mind at all. But no need it treat some as if they do not belong. Remember, we're all here for the same reason.

People come on. Fine, it was snippy. I'm a tiny bit pissed off about this entire IMBRA situation and delay. I'm a tiny bit pissed off that my petition is still sitting in CA and I haven't hear one single piece of information about when I am getting an RFE. So when someone starts to complain about not hearing any news from USCIS after 17 days, I got a tiny bit angry. Forgive me I had a moment.

At the same time, most people have the good sense to read through the guides and educate themselves just a bit before they start posting questions that can easily be answered by reading. I believe meauxna put it best:

"I'd recommend that the OP learn to use the tools already available at VJ to answer the Frequently Asked Questions. That way she won't have to worry about asking questions that can be perceived as ridiculous.

Things like the timelines, processing times, Guides and Embassy-specific info at the top of every page would've helped her to see that CSC takes several months for NOA2.

Reading other posts is a good way to get information too. The message boards should be the post-of-last-resort, when you can't figure it out on your own. Caveat: you should at least TRY to find the info on your own first."

I'm just curious as to why this should be. Ok, I agree that ideally this sounds great. But is it really obligatory that people try to find the info on their own before asking, when they can just as easily post and get a reply? I get annoyed with answering the same questions over again and again too, but I usually either put a link to the guide or just don't respond.

When I was a newbie, I never would have thought of the message boards as a last resort. How would people be expected to know that? Maybe if we really want things to be as you suggested, then the "Please consider reading the FAQ's and Guides before posting" should be worded a bit more forcefully?

I'm just curious as to why this should be.

Because there has been LOADS of time and effort put into the FAQ's and Guides. Especially lately.

Because it's a good way to sort through some of the overwhelming information and wrap your brain around it before you hear people spouting things like EAD, AOS, AP, CR-1, POE, USC, NBC, NVC, VSC, TSC, etc. etc. etc.

And because you should be responsible and accountable for your knowledge - knowledge is power.

I'm mandi's fiancee and though I don't frequent these boards very often, whatever the case, dudes we are n00bs at once. I myself am registered with like 20 message boards and we all know about what noobs ask, but that is why they ask. For help. Ok fine, they ask the same questions, but give links. Don't give completely stupid replies that piss people off. This was a helpful site and I remember asking a noobish question a while back. People learn. However, education should be used here.

To the pricks who said "#######" well guess what, we were all there once upon a time. Reading through the guides are helpful. That's we do first. However, there are questions that the guides don't answer and doing a search on these forums is time consuming and going through so many replies. So what I request is that giving the right advice, links, whatever. :)

There's alot of nasty ppl in this world, unfortunatly "some" of them are at VJ too. Its unfortunate and ya just have to wade thru the Azzholes to get to the good ones with helpful intenetions. I don't believe the ####### of grow a thicker skin. We shouldn't have to. People should learn to be a little less crass. IMHO Goodluck with your case.

VJ is not for the faint hearted. None of us joined this forum after 17 days of mailing their application. A lot of us joined after 2 mths.

If you cant be in here for the long haul, dont join VJ

Mandi,

I don't know what your original question was. How about if you post it again, and hopefully some of the members can help you.

Unfortunately there seem to be some that vent, argue, antagonize, whatever. But I think most people want to help, as it should be.

Good luck

Sorry, but if you post a whole topic about this, then that's not "letting some of us know", you just adressed the whole forum.

From what I could read, noone has been really rude and sure wasn't laughing at you.

If you don't understand why people here are stressed out and get a lil snippy at times, you hopefully will by the time you get in your timeline where they already are.

It's not like you were just brushed off, you were still getting information, right?

Jenn, I only cut off part of what you wrote cause I was trying to get to what I felt was your root comment.

And as far as a thicker skin - well - I say that not because of VJ but because of the process. Sure this is a support forum. But this process is for a VERY major life event, and normally in America we don't traverse such major things with as little control as you will suffer with immigration.

So I say a thick skin is necessary or you will either become clinically depressed, start taking mood-altering substances, or begin baying at the moon after scratching your back up against a tree and consuming an anthill.

Or you could just be like me and spend half your waking hours on a message board.......
