********************************************************************************

....when it hurts to look back and you're scared to look ahead LOOK beside you and I'll be there.....

There comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won't anymore... and who always will.

So, don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it to your future.

Yes, ASC stands for Application Support Center. This notice is what is also called the Biometrics letter. Biometrics appointments (fingerprints and phtograph) are usually not held at the USCIS offices but at another location known as an Application Support Center (ASC). You need to have the biometrics done before your AOS can be approved. At the Biometrics your fingerprints are taken and a photograph is taken. The fingerprints are then sent out to the FBI for a security check. When that comes back, you will either be scheduled for an interview or you will be approved without an interview. When approved, they will use the photograph that was taken at the ASC to make the green card. So, getting the ASC letter means you are nicely on your way in the AOS processing. It is hard to say exactly how long the whole process will take. For some people it is just a few months, for others it can be much longer. Mine took nearly 2 years but that is uncommon. Most seem to take between 6 to 8 months. Good luck.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
