Out of curiosity, Welshie. does this sour you on liking the place as much as you did before this bs?

Congrats on gettin your pay, btw :)

No.....I like the ppl I work with and the residents....it may sour the manager against me tho'!....but I think it will be ok, I mean they aren't losing anything at the end of the day.

welshie... GOOD ON YA!!! employers try to do the intimidation scheme... but once ya call them on it... and they see it won't wash with ya... i think it definitely sets the boundaries that they know they shouldn't cross with ya... i think this shows them that you are a stand-up, first-rate employee... and that it is in their best interest to continue honorable working relations with ya...

Good Job welshie!!!

I dunno....I have worked in the healthcare field for over 20 years and have attended many training days and always been paid, this doesn't seem right to me.

Am I being unreasonable??

Seems to me if they want you to go to training, they should pay you, or you should be given the choice not to go! That just doesn't sound right.

You are not being unreasonable.

(You are not overreacting either!!! ;) )

I have been in this job now for almost 2 months and I really like it. Last week the manager told me I had to go on a days training/seminar on Infection Control...which is fine....but then I hear that he is not going to pay me for that day, so I have to miss a whole days pay for something he wants me to do.

I dunno....I have worked in the healthcare field for over 20 years and have attended many training days and always been paid, this doesn't seem right to me.

I have to look into what legal rights I have if I refuse to go on this training without pay....I really don't want to lose my job over this, but a days pay is a days pay and I have a wedding to pay for!

My SO is fuming to the point that I wish I hadn't told him

Am I being unreasonable??
