I am not sure what I will need for eveidence for the Affidavit of support, I-864

I made $60 k + for the last 3 years but in October last year I was laid off. There were no jobs in my town for what I do so I had to start my own business because moving wasnt an option.

With my new business I am still well with in the requiered income.

MY question is do I need only to turn in the last 3 years of Income taxes for proof or are they going to want profit and loss ( not a problem) for the last few months or tax returns ( a real problem) for that period?

My problem is that to do my taxes right now is kind of a nightmare and I want to get the I-864 turned in this week.

I have spoken with the immigration officer at the spokane Washington office and he said they only want to see if I have the ability to earn an income so I only need the 3 years tax returns but for some reason I am not believing him. I would like your experiences

So your not sure/dont really want to include your taxes for this yr in your paperwork because you want to send the paperwork soon right? and you maybe dont want it to bring down your possibilities of showing that you can support the immigrant?

If that is the case, and you have enough tax information for the past three yrs, not including this years taxes, i would say send them. I know because of my age, i only have 2 yrs worth of tax information. You might want to have 2008 taxes present at any interviews or meetings you have regarding your visa just incase they want to see it. I know that based stricly on my income alone, i didnt make enought to support my husband, but the immigration officers in mexico looked at my assets and stuff and said it was fine. they didnt even want to see my sponser information. obviously i am sending my sponser information this time because this is AOS and about a greencard and it maybe be a little bit more tricky, but as long as you can show something for the taxes you should be fine. if they ask you why you didnt include the taxes for this year yet, say you hadnt had them done yet. You do have until april. :innocent:

I dont mind including my taxes but I dont have them and I dont want to wait in fact I might need an extention on my taxes ( divorce last year sell of house start up of new business purchase of new house). I am not hidding any thing I just dont have them. I am well with in the income limits. I wont beable to provide an emplyers letter but I have a busines licence I have profit and loss statements. HHMMM this could be a problem

I dont want it rejected or slwed down by an RFE that is what I am trying to avoid. I dont really have the ability to have a co sponsor either.
