Good day to everyone.

I just called NVC this morning, spoke with a representative, who confirmed that our petition arrived yesterday and gave us our case number (is that what it's called?).

Is there anything further we can do to find out when it leaves NVC, besides contact with the US Consulate in my fiancée's country?

Was there any other important information I could or should have gotten from the representative?

Thank you much for any assistance,.

Pete

for a K-1 visa petition,, NVC is merely a gateway to the consulate system... they do very little processing on this...

Not always the case - over the last few months they seem to have started doing lengthy random checks on a small but significant portion of K1s which means some people are waiting 5-8 weeks for their cases to be forwarded to the embassy. This is despite those people having been sent letters saying their cases are being forwarding to the embassy within a week.

Hopefully yours won't be one of these ThaitoUSA, you can ring the NVC again in a few days and they will be able to tell you when your case left.

I contacted NVC this morning to find out that the case departed yesterday for the Consulate.

My goodness is Dept. of State efficient!

Not always

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.
