question about expired NOA2

I am a little bit confused after reading another thread on here.

Does my approved petition (K-1) HAVE to be still valid at POE?

I always thought once I have my visa, the Petition isn't important anymore.

My NOA2 expires 8/20/2006 but I won't leave to the States before 8/27/2006.

Do I have to get the NOA2 extended even after I have my visa in my passport?

(Interview is June 27 and I hope to have the visa shortly after that.)

Please give me some advice!

your K1 visa is now the document you need to keep an eye on as far as expiry goes - the NOA2 was the approval of PETITION notice from USCIS - it has to be in date until it is superceded by the issuance of a visa from the Embassy.

The visa must be in date at time of marriage - after that, it TOO can expire providing you have aplied for AOS - then you are in 'status limbo' (altho you are really 'pending AOS approval' and go thru NOA1 and NOA2 for THAT again) until AOS (GC etc) comes thru.

Think of it like, I dunno, searching for a comparison similie here, pages from a book.. you can turn over once you reach the next chapter if chapter one is NOA1, then once you get chapter 2, NOA2, you can forget chapter one, visa is chapter 3, (bye-bye NOA2) etc etc. You get the idea.

Maybe I should've gone with the milestones similie..

I think about it just like you said...but reading this other thread, made me wondering...
