We're still waiting to hear from the embassy in London at the moment.

Yesterday, he phoned his mum to discuss gathering of financial information. He currently doesn't meet the poverty guidelines himself, so his parents are sponsoring us. Making sure the USCIS are happy that I'm going to be supported once I'm over there has probably given me more sleepless nights than the rest of the process so far has.

In the meantime, I'm stressing slightly at the moment about what to do about the fact that I'm due to move house in less than three weeks. Anyone got any advice? I don't know if I should start gathering police checks and the sort now, or wait until later. This one's worrying me a lot right now.

Thanks again everyone for the encouragement. As it turns out, the Congressman for my district will be doing a town hall here on Wednesday. While it's unlikely I'll get his personal attention, I have had my politically active friend reach out to his office, and I'm hoping it will add to the impact to have both Ingrith and me there to meet his staff.

After presuming for a long time that the problem was dealing with a Panamanian government that didn't have a direct line of communication with the US, I now think it's more likely that I am the reason for the holdup. I've lived in 3 states, changed addresses quite often while in college, and traveled extensively, including 4 trips to Ukraine and 1 to Russia (ironically, to visit my last girlfriend). So I have a feeling I might be in the dreaded "FBI background check" queue. :(

Here's hoping either that I'm wrong or that the process is actually expedited by a Congressional contact. Best of luck to everyone else in the same boat.

-Patrick

Good luck. Its so hard to stay positive through this whole process. My thoughts were, after reading all the miserable tales of calling USCIS, to just have the Senator's office work on it directly without me calling and bugging them. But, for those of you in states with large populations, i feel for you. I am from Wyoming and have direct contact with a senator. Hang in there, keep bugging them and remember to always ask for the highest supervisor!

Hey honey! I would order your checks now as I've heard they can take a little while to get in when dealing with England, cuz you have to apply somewhere or something? Dont remember, I read it in another post. Police checks are usually good for 6 months - a year, so if you get everything in order than you need to now you will be fine and perfectly ready when the time comes. I'm still waiting to hear from our consulate too, I have just about everything now except the support documents (cuz Wes is a procrastinator...grrr ) and the new letter of intent.

Well, so far nothing at NVC. I called them yesterday, and they haven't received our case yet.

Still keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for not too much AP when our file does arrive.

Any news from fellow March 2009 filers?

Boy I hear that! They say they process the files in the order they were received. Thats a load of BS. Look above your post. That guy didn't send the I-129 until the END of march and is already approved.

I sent mine in February, got there in March, and I haven't heard a damn thing. Keep your fingers crossed. Im ready to go APe sh!t. lol

Yesterday My sweetheart has received the envelope from the US Embassy in Kiev. And today called the clinic for the medical appointment. They scheduled it for tomorrow. They said that they had no people. Now i have to send all the papers from me. And we should be set.

I do have a situation though.. and i don't know how will they look at it.

I have sold my Business in 2006 of 14 years. and till a year ago.. did not work living off the profits of sold business.

last year i paid $37.00 in taxes. In 2008 i started a brand new business from scratch which i am nursing along at the moment.

Since 1993 i paid mu taxes in October of each year by filing an extension. My taxes will not be filed till then. But her interview will be before this moth is over.. .. I think i will need a cosigner ... i just wonder how strong it should be. I feel kinda awkward at my age looking for a cosigner.. but the circumstances turned out that i did not work previous two years, devoting all my time to my hobby ( building my airplane ).

I remember that some people said that we should look at some line on the 1040 form.

I just don't remember where i have read that.

EXAMINE WHAT YOU BELIEVE TO BE IMPOSSIBLE, THEN CHANGE YOUR BELIEF !!!

I would browse the embassy forum for self employed and see what pops up. I also remember seeing a few people talking about the 1040. Also if you were living off savings, get a letter from your bank stating the amounts you had in you account etc etc, that should help a bit as well.

As for me, still waiting. Feels like forever, it really sucks.

I have zero patience for things that are similar to these. During the waiting process there is not a thing at all that can realistically be done to get a real update. I called this morning, 5 Months to the day, and of course the woman on the phone brings out the script and goes on to tell me to continue waiting. I ask how long do I continue to wait, because I was told initially to wait for 5 months to pass. This time I was told well that is just kind of a sorta estimate, maybe. Was told CSC is working on Feb 15 so to just keep waiting.

Anyone have any remote idea on how long the process should realistically take? I mean, once they open the packet, how long could it really take to do all the necessary things needed to approve, RFE or deny the petition? The price was increased for what again? It obviously wasn't to increase the efficiency of anything.

They know they "have you by the balls" and ultimately can just do as they please. I guess we are just playing in their world and have to deal with whatever rules or situations they decide to set in the end. Increase the price to $1000? $2000? Ok sure, sign me up? after all what alternative is there? Increase the processing time to a year? Ok sure, sign me up. After all what alternative is there?

I guess I can almost begin to understand why there are so many illegals here locally. Really frustrates the hell out of me that like so many other things, those of us the do it the "right" way are the ones that get the garbage end of the deal. Should have just flown my fiancee to Mexico on one of my many vacations to Mexico and just brought her back over the border and dealt with it after that.

Done with the rant, until the next month of waiting goes by with zero explanation on why or how long. Good luck to all others waiting with this ridiculous process.

Reunited for good and it feels so good!

Mostly, I'm just a bit worried it'll get lost in the mail when they (the police) send me the report. They do send it to me right? Not the embassy? Anyone filing in the UK know whether they send the police check via any sort of courier service? If it's sent via standard post, I think the postal service will be able to redirect it to my new address if I moved before I get a response from them, but I'm worried it they send it via courier or something that they won't be able to deliver it to me if I've moved.
