Thanks for the encouragement. I've started to reach out to a friend who's politically active, to see if I can get a direct point of contact in my Senator's office.

After calling the mis-information line, I will most certainly not be bothering with the "official" method of requesting an inquiry once my file reaches the 5-month point (and then waiting up to 60 days for a response to that). It's clear they have no interest in providing more information without the most firm push possible, and that would be from a Senator's office. I actually heard the person in the background prompting my "jerk in training" (resisting the urge to use a more severe term) to tell me that his supervisor was "not available at the moment"...and then this "jerkling" had the gall to suggest that I try calling back to see if another "Customer Service Agent" could give me more information, knowing full well that the next person would simply read to me from the same script. It's like they take joy in wasting our time. This is where our taxpayer dollars go....to have people on a power trip wield that power over us??? Yes, they work for us, but that seems to make no difference.

(Deep breath)

As I said, the only thing that makes this bearable at the moment is having Ingrith with me to keep my eyes on the prize. :) While she is losing faith daily, having dealt with immigration every time she crosses the border, just seeing her after work restored my optimism that this could still come through in time for an October wedding. My file will reach the 5-month point next Thursday, so I will do my best to have someone at my Senator's office make contact on or shortly after that date.

Sincere congratulations to all who have moved on from the USCIS phase of this stage of the journey. Please continue to pray, send positive vibes, light a candle, or whatever you can do to help the rest of us.

My senator's assistant just called my father yesterday asking where my request was to push the USCIS along. If you have a congressman willing to help you with your application I would highly recommend doing it. Vindictive backlash is completely unreasonable. Remember, they work for us. In my opinion, it would get someone to locate the application at least and maybe even push it through a little. The only reason I didnt do it sooner was because of the 5 month mark, but remember, that mark is to have the petition completed by then.

No harm trying to find out, through a gov't offical, if its close or not.

Hang in there. Your're close.

To clarify.....I did contact my Senator and they were more than happy to check for me.

You are in my prayers. I feel confident that things will start moving soon. Stay strong and focus on the time that you have together right now. My fiance and I were together when we found out we had been approved, and it was a wonderful feeling. Maybe that will happen for you two as well! Good luck, your day will be here soon.

david already contacted the senator in chicago...we got the std response....although my case was updated with a touch. but it still says pending.

If you got updated with a touch, that is a good sign. It means your case has not been lost. Also it seems that soon after a touch the NOA2 arrives in a lot of cases. Good luck...you are almost there!

Good luck. Its so hard to stay positive through this whole process. My thoughts were, after reading all the miserable tales of calling USCIS, to just have the Senator's office work on it directly without me calling and bugging them. But, for those of you in states with large populations, i feel for you. I am from Wyoming and have direct contact with a senator. Hang in there, keep bugging them and remember to always ask for the highest supervisor!

we're coming up on the 5 month mark also. i called uscis last week, and the agent was nice enough to inform me of the change in expected processing time, and she even told me i should appeal to my congressman or senator after 5 months.

i know it's hard to take at times - especially when others get their NOA2 after only a couple months. i've been able to visit my fiancee twice, so that helps, but phone calls and skype just don't cut it.

sorry about your troubles - hopefully you'll get some good news soon!!!

Same here I called NVC on Friday as well and they didn't have our case either. My NOA2 date same as yours and I have not received and email ad our case is still pending online yet I have the hard copy of the NOA2. I'll update if situation changes.

I would call about mid week next week and they should have you in the system hopefully, usually takes 5-7 days before they log you in the system, so they may have it but not have put you in the computer. In my case when I called on the Friday they said they didnt have it, when I called back the Monday or Tuesday they said they got it on Friday
