Hey.....um, Danu? I was reading the thread all night tonight, (and firstly sorry to hear about the job, you'll pull through though) and secondly,

what are you talking about? lol.

I just got concerned reading a previous post of where you say your man getting pulled into secondary for living in Canada?

Could you elaborate on some things for me, or point me in the right direction?

POE? vwp? Secondary?

I ask because I would like to go live in her country for awhile once we get all the paperwork done over here.

I have to apologize ladies. I am that guy you all say likes to wait until the last minute on things, and I--obviously--am not up on my research...yikes srry!

lol sure I will help you. Secondary is where you get taken to a room and asked questions by an officer. Based on your answers you are allowed or denied entry to the country you are attempting to enter. He didnt get pulled into secondary for living here, he got pulled in because at the airport when Canada Customs asked him the nature of his visit he said to visit me, and he had to declare my ring. They wanted to make sure he was going back to the states and not trying to come here to live with me. The likely hood he will be pulled into secondary again is higher, as is the likely hood I will be as our names are linked in the database now. Nothing bad, just means we need to provide proof we are coming back to our own countries.

PoE is the port of entry which can either be at the border in our case, or the airport...its where you enter the country, no matter which country it is. As an example, if her flight lands in Chicago, thats where she will have to go through the processing with customs once she has her paperwork, unless they offer pre-screening in her country, even if that flight then connects to LA.

VWP is the visa waiver program. Lots of the european countries and Canada have it. It allows you to visit the states without a visitors visa if you are in a country that honors the program. For anywhere overseas the length of the waver is 3 months, for Canada it is 6.

As for you living there while is being processed heres a few things to think about. Once you get the NOA2 (btw your NOA1 date you didnt enter, you should do that :D) it will get sent to NVC (the national visa center) to be sent to her embassy. Once they have it, they will issue her Packet 3, which asks for more forms, including financial information from you, regarding your job etc. You must make 125% of the poverty line for the size of your family (you can find the guidelines at http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-864P.pdf) or you will need to have someone co-sponsor with you, so if you are going to live there and dont have a way to make money, you will need to get someone to sponsor you guys.

Don't feel bad about not knowing. My fiance is the USC, and I did all the paperwork, just showed him where to sign cuz he doesnt get any of it lol. If you need any help with the process let me know!

Maybe they're working on it....I really hope so. I know it won't make the process go any faster, but seeing something online would make me feel better about this long wait.

I definately know how you feel. The gasp I gave when something other than the dreaded "sorry your case number doesnt work, try again later" made Wes think something bad had happened. It was an extreme shock to see it say that they mailed us a letter on the 3rd of March...no red letters on the screen! Hopefully yours gets entered soon too!

DaaannnnUUUUUU

Thank YouUUUU!!

lol. The quick response is really appreciated.

So, any news on the job front?

:D I lurke on the forums lol. Nothing yet but to be honest as it just happened last week there wasnt much to check out yet. I have filled for the unemployment insurance we have here, which gives me time, but it may allow me to go back to school for my A+ certification without having to pay anything, so I am looking into that avenue. The hard part is right now all the jobs are part time and minimum wage and for the money they would offer its actually worth more for me not to work with the insurance available to me, and it allows me time to pack, so we shall see how things go.

You can call me Steph btw :D

I think it is a good sign, and since you are an early march filer I am hoping they are really working on your petition. I am going to write an email to my friend now, while at the same moment trying not to scare her. I think, my english is starting to suffer...... (I am in an emoticon phase)

Hey Steph,

Thats harsh that he was pulled into secondary. When David came down in February with my ring Canadian customs said congratulations stamped his paperwork and even let hm out of paying for duties! he's never had a problem visiting me what so ever..which is weird..but then again he brings practically nothing with him. Just a small backpack with a couple days clothes and thats it.

Me on the other hand.oh boy..ya i won't be going back to chicago til i get my visa...Going through US secondary is like being arrested :(

I still do'nt have a job..seems the languagge barrier in Quebec is really messing with me :( And everytime i try and talk french they frown and i feel like i'm a little kid getting chastised. Luckily I have funds still from selling my house, but i was really hoping to bring that all with me so i wouldn't be a burden on David when i get down there.

Of course he's so sweet he says i'm not and that he wants to take care of me no matter what...

Jome,

Feel free to ask all the questions you want..without these people and VJ i'd be so lost and even more lonely than I normally feel! :) Vj is like the best friend for most of us i think. LOL

You guys and gals are all so nice!

I just wish everyone here a trouble free process!

When I visited my gal in December, I came back through San Francisco, and got pulled into secondary as a US citizen, just because I went to Morocco.

Maybe it wasn't secondary, but they pulled me aside and tore all my luggage apart. lol

Yeah Kim, it absolutely sucks cuz we heard most of the times they just let you go, but he must have got the grumpy one. He had to pay duties and everything (though because I have the paperwork for it we can claim that money back as its not staying in Canada)

I have been debating on going to blizzcon this year, depending on when everything goes through been thinking that my reason for visiting will be to goto the convention, but that i would bring my extra paperwork just incase they look me up or something. Not sure though because I have no idea when the NOA2 will go through or when the interview will be. Hoping that I can be lucky like the ones lately and get it in a couple months from the NOA2 date. I just miss him a lot and by that time it will be 6 months since I saw him last.

My NOA1 has a receipt date of March 10th. Does that mean it might actually get looked at soon? My online status (of course) STILL says the only time it was ever looked at was right after they received it March 3.

Hehe blizzcon would prolly be a blast. but ya..i'd be scared to go too with the ppwk in the system. It's always the sick or grumpy ones i get too, or the ones that refuse to look you in the eye..god that annoys me.

I've seen David a total of about 2 weeks since December, now considering i was with him from october til december when i came back it really hurts. But he just told me he's takign the last of his vacation and comming down the first week of July. YAY

Hopefully we'll see some March approvals soon..once we do you know we'll feel better. It's just the damn slowness lately thats gotten to most of us i think.
