hi butterfly, yes you are right, you should stay in the US and fight for your rights. You dont have to be affected with someone who doesnt care and give some insulting advice. They are not in your shoes so they really dont understand your situation but instead judging you. Your husband should marry his mom instead. Being divorce to his wife for three times is a big question WHY he doesnt have a successful relationship.

Just keep fighting for what u think is right and be WISE next time. Good Luck to you.

----------------------------------------------------------

That makes me really angry that your husband treated you like that. No wonder he is divorced 3 times. what a jerk. Im not sure how you stay here, i just wish you the best, no matter what you do, stay here, or go back home. good luck.

I am not being mean but i agree, you came here for love it did not work, y don't you go home to your family where u know people. I have a hard time completely believing these stories. You had this bad experience but yet you want to stay! That don't sound right to me. I am not saying your marriage was perfect, i don't know and we don't know your husbands point of view either. There is so much questions, what if he realized you used him to come here then decided he wanted a divorce, and you knowing the law cause you took a class before you came to the US about the laws decided to call 911 in order for you to stay. Like i said i am not being mean i just find a lot of question in these cases. The number one thing that makes me ask question is, you don't want to go home. Your in this strange town, you have this abusive husband yet you still want to stay? that is odd. But none the less good luck!

I dont stay wth him anymore. im lving here in the shelter home. the reason im came here n this site is to educate myself. about laws of immigration. ii hvave a lawyer who already goin to takecare of my case. yes., ur right.. marriage is not perfect. but nobody has a right to treat a person like an animal ,battered emotionally... which is harder.. whn ur husband threathing to kill you... and a mother who dont want his son to be wth a woman/wife. how can a woman who is believer of happily marriage will tk that. mybe its not ur situation. but it happened to me. i dnt make believe but my police reports will tell the truth. the question wth using him.... i dnt think so... i know in my heart and in my mind i marry for a right reason. in good faith. yes we have a seminar in phil bfore i cme here. bt that is very helpful.. atleast i know what to do and my human rights. i didnt call 911 for a minor reason. i call because he abused me physically. /mentally so as his mother. yes i will go home if its my last option but i will give it a shot.! why not.. he needs to learn how to respect other people nd know what his responsiblities when he marry a woman wth diff. culture. so tht whn its a lesson for man/like him thast whtever they do it has a consequences., its nt a matter of staying here or not but i want him to face the law.so that he cant noi longer marry outside the country and abuse them.

People, the immigrant is allowed to stay in the U.S. if he or she entered the marriage in good faith. And they might well have good reasons for wanting to stay after uprooting their life, reasons which surprisingly enough they are in a better position to know than you. This is about them, not about whether you'd want to deport your spouse if he or she left you.

she isn't planning to live in the US and get a job and pay bills and taxes. she is planning to live on government assistance and spousal support and work under the table so she can send cash home. to fail in her perceived mission to move to america and make big bux to send back to her family would be too shameful. nobody would accept her at home if she blows her big chance to exploit her american husband and ship big piles of cash back so everybody she's related to can live the easy life and brag to their neighbors about how their little girl is squeaking it all out of her foolish american.

Oh dear this is a shocking assumption!!!! I am asking with all sincerity, do you know this person personally and you are therefore enlightening us? Your statement suggests that you do based on the "she is planning to..." and all the other statements I am reading.

When you marry a USC and come to the US in the majority of cases you give up everything in order to be with the one you love.

Arthur

You know, I keep that in mind every day with my John. It's these posts that make me especially angry, because the beneficiary is giving up everything they know, and they need their USC spouse to help them adjust. I feel so badly for those who post on here with these stories. Leaving their friends, family, and familiar surroundings only to get abuse and/or neglect for their trouble. And then the USC tries to send them back to cover up their cruelty.

Pls. gve me advice .... I got married last 2007 in 5 months of marriage he abuse me physically and mentally. so as the mother. but he filed my adjustment status. prior to his marriage to me. his dvorced three times and only lasted for a couple of months. my situation is very awful. I dnt know anybody in his town etc. I stayed alone in the house while his at work... out of iinonce... i call 911( just to ask advice that will i do wth my situation.... the operator gave me the number of violence against women hotline. I gve them a call when my husband is out. i talkd to them for a couple of times and advice me to leavehim and stayed at their shelter . they said i can petition myself without him since its against women(Violence agaisnt women act)--- in my opinion not only physically but emotionally. One day. he come home he said he wanted dvorce. well to mke story short. i call 911.. and police took me out from his house. they gave me police clearance etc.they gve me reports. from the times i called them etc. / vagainst women offce too.

my prblem is how can i petition myself when my ex husband cancel my petition already??do u think that the INS will give me a chance to stay here? because accdg.to the law...the self supporting--should be married atleast 2 years. ///// u mean i have to wait for two years before i will leave ?? please advice me... its going to be very helpful to me. Thanks and Godbless

Did you marry for love or a green card? If it was for love, sorry it didn't work out. Buy a plane ticket and go back to the Phillipines.

I hope your marriage will be successful. So, your spouse/you don't have to pack back home.

Oh dear this is a shocking assumption!!!! I am asking with all sincerity, do you know this person personally and you are therefore enlightening us? Your statement suggests that you do based on the "she is planning to..." and all the other statements I am reading.

it's called "the white elephant in the room", and everyone is ignoring it.

too many of you fools are marrying people from other countries and expecting them to think like you do and have compatible logic and behaviour. truth is, most 2nd and 3rd worlders have very different conceptions of dignity and respectable behaviour. they come here and don't fit in, and their US spouse either educates them, isolates them, or kicks them to the curb. the high number of quick divorces in the K1-USC process is indicative of the number of "green carder seekers", immature immigrants unwilling to be socialised, and USC unwilling to invest years of effort in acclimating their new partner. our country would be less burdened by unsocialised people if it weren't for the high number of fantasy based marriages that go awry.

and yes, i lived with my wife in china for 2 years before we married, so i knew what i was getting into. i have no respect at all for people who claim a "relationship" that consists merely of a 1 week vacation and a bunch of e-mails.

Friend, I didn't say that all imigrants are green card seekers. I listed 3 reasons why a marriage to a foreigner could fail. Many internet marriages turn out OK, but if the two cultures involved are dramatically different, it takes a lot of sincerity, sacrifice, work, and patience. I'm sure you understand that, and wish you the best of luck with your fillipina.

I do agree though about the 1 week vacation and emails though..you have to get to know someone physically as well as mentally before jumping into it so fast
