Hi,i need help. Im on the process of completing my checklist in K1-packet 3. Part of the step 2 checklist is the Fee which is 131 US dollar to be paid in scotiabank and the last are the DS-156 and DS-156K which need to be fax to the consulate. Should i pay now and complete the forms to be filled up and fax it together with packet 3 checklist? My preferred dates of interview is either March 27 or March 30,2009. Thanks a lot.

I don't know where you are in Canada, but if you're being interviewed in Montreal, you're probably looking at least at a 4-5 month wait for an interview. When they ask if there are specific times you wish to be interviewed, you could say asap, or something like that. Or let them know what weeks might be better for you. I highly doubt you'll get a specific day of the week. Have you stopped into the Canada Forum? Here's the link. There is also a thread for those people waiting for interviews in both Montreal and Vancouver, so you can look at the timelines of those waiting for interviews.

Hi, I recived our NOA-2 on Mar4. My fiance's file has been moved to Consulate in Montreal. Can anyon etell me how log it will be before they ship the packet 3 to my fiancee and if she can request interview date for late April early May? Should I contact Consulate in Montreal about when to expect packet 3 or DOS?

Thanks,

Your checklist looks good! If you don't get the "official" appointment letter with your interview date on it, did you at least get an email with the interview date on it? If so, print that off. It should suffice as a confirmation of your interview date and time. They'll want to see it before letting you into the Consulate. If not, I'd recommend emailing Vancouver, and letting them know you didn't get it. They might resend it, or reply to your email in which case you can print that off. Make sure you put your case # in the subject line, and type in URGENT.

Best of luck!

I don't know why your file was moved from Vancouver to Montreal. Was it supposed to be moved? I'd think it would take a week or so for it to be moved from one Consulate to another. Montreal will send you out a package 3 within a week of the file being transferred there. When you get your package 3, it will have requested dates on it. You can say, I'd like for late April or early May, but be prepared to say why. You can also say asap. I think some people going through Mtl who sent in their package 3 within the last month have been getting May dates, so I'd suggest you might be looking at late May or June right now. Be sure, if there is a real good reason why you need it earlier, that you say why. Maybe they can accomodate you request.

Yes, you can contact Mtl by email, no phone calls. Make sure you have your case number in the subject line. Look at not getting a reply for at least a week as well. You could also email Vancouver and ask when or if they sent the case to Montreal which might help in obtaining a better timeline.

I haven't seen your screen names before, either of you, so you should drop into the Canada forum where there is tons of information about US/Canada immigration. Lots of ins and outs for moving, medical, immunizations etc. There is also a timeline thread for people waiting at the Montreal and Vancouver consulates you'll want to check out. Also, have a look at VJ wiki. Here's the links:

I will be staying at Ramada Inn Limited Downtown...and they told me that burrard street where to take medical exam is 6 blocks away and the vancouver consulate is 6 blocks away too....hotel price are too high and i will be staying for 7 nights...its only ramada that i found cheaper and not that far to the places where i should go.

Yes you have to be at the clinic before 6:30am coz its first come first serve basis...so wish me luck lol.
