Yardies need post-NOA2 help

Okay, I have more questions regarding this post-NOA2 process & I'm putting them here rather than PMing any of you wonderful yardies so that someone else may benefit from the answer should they have the same question(s).

First, does anyone have any good clinic suggestions for getting vaccinations ahead of the medical exam in the Hanover or Westmoreland parishes? My SO keeps getting the runaround and they're giving him a price of $10,000 JA for vaccinations at the nearby local clinics where he lives. That is the SAME price the designated medical exam place in Mobay quoted me. You would THINK that it would be cheaper to get them done locally beforehand but I can't get a straight answer. I know some have said to just do it at the same time as the exam but I'm really trying to stretch my dollars and save money wherever I can. Any advice, suggestions, thoughts appreciated here.

Next, I think I've figured out that the NIV (K-1 visa) does NOT require the applicant to set up the visa interview via the call center or internet scheduling and that it's scheduled by the embassy. That being understood, for those of you who've gone through this recently, if they give you a date for an interview that just absolutely will not work, is it possible to request a date a little farther out or do you have to take what you get or forget it? We really want to get moving on this process but with the rate of speed they've been moving (not that I'm complaining), I'm worried that they'll schedule us a little sooner than I'll be able to make it. I need to finish this school semester and am worried about getting a date too soon. If that happens, will I be able to request a date a little farther away?

Again, thank you guys for your input!:luv:

Ells; I thought the call center was only for NIV (school, tourist, work, visitors) and such. One more thing, when we had our interview, I e-mailed the embassy and politely asked if it was any way possible for my interview to be toward the end of June. I did this the day after we dropped of the DS-230 in April. I knew it they could not make sure a request, but it didn't hurt to ask and to my surprise it was granted. I didn't ask for a specific date or time, so give it a try and see what happens. After all, all they do is say no, it naw go kill u.

I just got a drop off date for the DS230 , and had few more questions. Hopefully all the questions in this thread will be helpful for others who read this later. Okay her are my questions:

-- When you drop off the DS-230 do you get some sort of receipt? Does he have to pay the visa application fee at this time? Just want to let him know what to expect or what to ask for.

-- My SO is going to apply for the police certificate when he goes to Kingston to drop off the DS230. I think getting the "regular" delivery should be fine versus the "3 day express" delivery for us since I'm not expecting an interview date until 4-6 weeks. Thoughts?

Thanks for the help so far.

As far as dropping off the DS-230 & getting a receipt, we'll find out next week so can't provide input until then. The visa fee only needs to be paid prior to the interview as Sus stated.

I'm considering having him ask for a packet 3 at the same time he drops off his DS-230 since he didn't receive it. We have all the forms prepared already but I'd like a physical copy of the packet for his information....especially with the medical exam info. Islandwoman was awesome enough to send me a scanned copy of the packet so I know what's included and there was one form I haven't seen on-line regarding medical info. It would be good if my SO had this info so I'll see if they'll give him his packet 3 next week at the same time.

I'm also still debating whether or not to do the 3 day or 3 week service. Since I'm fairly certain we won't have an interview as early as three weeks from the drop off of the form, I think the priority service might not be necessary. He wants to do 3 days but I'm now questioning the need for it. I'm curious to see who has gone with the 21 day turnaround and how that experience was.

I'm not even close to that step, but I plan to get the 3 day service. It's only about $15 USD more, and I like the idea of having things together as soon as possible. Plus, I consider how every single thing so far has taken WAY longer than estimated, and know that I rather have time to wait.

I'm sorry I'm confused. What is the 3 day or 3 week service for? Also for the medical do you need something out of packet 3 or the interview date letter?

I have a few questions, or should I say clarification: I'm post NOA2 right now.

1. Im following James Short Cuts for the NVC Process.

2. Once the NVC approves my documents? Dont they send it to the embassy? Why does my husband have to drop off the DS-230? Or is that optional?

3. For those of you that dropped of the DS-230, did you do the 3 day or 3 week turnaround for the police record? In Kingston? Is that the only place to get the police record?

4. What email address (embassy email address) did you use to set up the DS-230 drop off date?

5. When filing for a child do you have to submit all the same papers? How do you sign a DS-3032 or email a DS-3032 for a child?

6. Did you pay for the visa when you dropped off the DS-230?

Sorry So many questions.

ToAli, sorry I can't answer all your questions since I'm going through the process myself. However, check out these links that will answer some of your questions on the process.

http://www.visajourney.com/faq/k1k2visa-outline.html

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...amp;page=guides

This whole page has invaluable links to helpful pages.

http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/inde...p;cty=Kingstone

Another great page with Kingston Embassy info. This page also has the e-mail address to the embassy's visa department. The other e-mail address that seems to be better for K-1 and quick responses is for the NIV (non-immigrant visas which is technically what a K-1 is):

consularkingst@state.gov

E-mail them and put in the subject line what you're requesting and include your case #.

Your husband can drop off the DS-230 or mail it but the mail can be unreliable so that's why many prefer to do drop off.

Kingston is the place to get the police record. Others have done it locally and it wasn't the right information that the embassy required apparently.

You don't have to pay the visa fee until just prior to your interview so that can wait a while longer. Any NCB bank will accept payment and issue the receipt that is proof you need to take the interview.

Read the guides and search the K-1 forum because a lot of these issues have been discussed in detail so they'll help you. Good luck!

Ali I just bumped a thread for you that Marlita started - she did IR/CR1 as well - I think that dropping of the DS-230 is K1 only (but I could be wrong) = here is the thread, some great info -
