Native writting

Hello all,

Im still laughing at myself on the I-130 it says to write your spouses name and address in their native alphabet.

Okay, Im American, I only write in English, so I traced my husbands name which he wrote in Arabic onto the form, do you think USCIS will reject cause I did this?

On the G-325A, I said "See attched sheet", and clipped the paper he did of his name written in Arabic, think that was sufficient? UGH!!!

Why in the world would these things be asked on the forms?????

Oh well, it was mailed off anyways. The way he signs forms , he does not sign in Arabic, he signs in French, he is from Algeria originally.

I never heard before if anyone got RFE because of difference Native Alphabet. In India, most state has different alphabet but I don't think that anyone was denied with difference in native alphabet.

I didn't even bother to write in my native language. I can speak fluent Bangla but I am bad with scripts. So it doesn't really matter I guess, we never got any RFE.

We had this problem too. My husband ended up emailing the form to his sister and she typed it on the form and sent it back to us.

I agree that this is a stupid requirement on these forms.

I did the same, I write myself and snail mail to my wife in USA.

but I found a new way to write if you know how to use sticky note in Adobe Reader,

what i did for DS-230 (it has same requirement). I type in Paint in my Native Language and save as jpeg file than insert this file from Sticky Note in Adobe Reader, and paste on the line where it needed.

if you don't know how to use it send the file to me I can do it for you. it will save your money and time

I wouldn't bet against an RFE for failure to provide the native alphabet information they want. I would definitely bet ON an RFE if an Asian country. Some alphabets don't transliterate to our alphabet accurately. That's the "reason" these questions are asked. It's foolish to think a question is stupid just because YOU don't understand the reason it was asked. It this process, you're gambling with you and your mate's future when you do.

I agree with you, and their might be another reason they are asking to write your native alphabet because some of my original documents are in native alphabet which we sent to NVC.

I agree as well, some of my wife's documents are in her native language as well, so I had her write her name on a sheet of paper so I could copy it into the I-130 and I-129F.

My husband wrote his name in his native script on our I-130 petition, however, I left that question blank on our I-129F petition and we did not receive an RFE.

I agree Pusbrk, it my my ignorance thinking it was foolish. But I did put his name on the I-130 in his native alphabet, but for the G-325A forms, I said "See attached" he wrote it all out for me and I attached it. I guess he did not see it when he completed the G324A forms.

That is what I did on the I-130 form, and said see attached sheet on the G325A forms. He missed that part.

Either way, I provided what they wanted, with what I wrote, to a sheet he wrote for me. Keeping fingers crossed now.

They ask for a reason, but I proveded what they requested, writting on the forms and attached a sheet of the writting for just in case.

Well, since they require an English translation of any documents that are in a foreign language, I don't understand this requirement. For most people I suppose it is not a problem, but my husband only spent a fraction of his life in Iran and didn't trust his writing to fill it in. It became a pain for us, but we managed it anyway. I didn't want to take any chances. His sister still lives in Iran and has Farsi fonts, of course, so she was able to do it for us.

That is good. My husband said he cant remember the last time he wrote in his native language. Anyways, I did the attached sheet thing, especialy after I had to write it in on the I-130 form. Now for translating the docs he will send me, I have a friend who translates Arabic, she already did his birth cert, and another form last year when we first started all of this, then cancelled. Like you said, dont want to take any chances.

Just as an example, my wife's family name (most Chinese names) have four or more Chinese characters that transliterate to the same "English word". Without the name in the native characters, they can't distinguish who is who. With a three character name, the possibilities become daunting.
