i dont know what to do first.

i arrived here in US as K1 visa. what should i do next?

some say file for SSN? would it be more comfortable to get married first then get SSN?

coz you know in getting SSN we need to get EAD first. and in getting EAD really cost alot. and they say that it will expire as my I-94 expires..

so what should i do first?

please help me coz im really frustrated with this. my fiance and soon to be husband feels like not helping me!! :crying:

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

you don't need an EAD to apply for SSN.

I would apply for it as without it you cannot open a bank account and you may need it for insurance, amongst other things.

It worked out best for us to have Claudeth apply for her SSN a couple of weeks after she arrived. After we got her EAD we were able to change the name on the card.

I think its better for you to file for your SSN first before getting married since you came here on a K1 visa.

As K1 visa holder you are allowed to get SSN even before getting married, its better if you do it far before your I94 expires so its easy for you to process it or else SSA will give you some headache and will just say you have to do ur AOS first.

ITs good u have your SSN already as early as now while the processing is still easy. And once you get married just go back there and present ur marriage contract to have it change to ur married name.

God bless and you can make it.
