All the forms can be found at www.uscis.gov. That's where you will get the most recent version of each form you need. The marriage license is proof that you are legally married- you will always need it to prove marriage.

You should get a marriage certificate from the county agency where the marriage is registered at.

Is there a expiration date on the license? Is that is for marriage or for AOS, if ex: I get a lisence that expire April 18 and I marry later or before that date, and I adjust status after April 18 would there be a problem, I mean is the expiration date is for the wedding?

Depending where you live, and the laws (you will have to check), a license allows you to marry.

Once you marry, you get a marriage certificate stating you are married (signed, sealed, etc...)

So - if you have an expiration date - you better use it before it expires, or it will not be valid and you will need a new one. ( I ask this, because a finished marriage certificate does not have an expiration date on it)

But if your not married, how can you AOS?

The marriage license won't mean anything to the USCIS, it is the registered certificate they want

In some places the marriage license and certificate may be the same piece of paper. The license may become the certificate after the marriage is performed, the officiant and witnesses sign, and the county clerk records the marriage. Other jurisdictions may do it differently, and have a completely different form for the license versus the certificate.

But yes, technically speaking, the marriage license is the paper that gives you permission to marry. The marriage certificate is the paper which proves you actually went through with the ceremony and got married legally. What you need for future proof is the marriage certificate.
