Greetings all,

I just sent my I-129F off today in the mail, certified :). Background info on me and my FH; We met online in 2002, but things didnt get serious until 2008. He flew out here to meet me and go on holiday with his dad and we hit it off great and he extended his stay (within his visa time restriction, of course) and proposed in November, much to the delight of my family and friends...and me :D. We began filling out the paperwork while he was here and after he left we had to wait on some more documents and to get the money together. My mother is going to be my joint sponsor when the time comes. I'm just incredibly nervous and excited all at the same time. I am processing through the Vermont Service Center...any experiences with them good or bad? I would love for him to come back in May 09' for my graduation but I am nervous that the K-1 being in process might mess things up. He works for his father and is living at home with his mother. He has strong family ties to Wales but not employment/uni ties. He also does his banking there, so I suppose he has some financial ties to the UK? Any experience in this as well? I found my way here from the British Expats community, but it will be nice getting different opinions from both boards. Thanks everyone in advance and good luck with your journeys as well!

Congrats and welcome.

The K-1 process will not prevent him from visiting you, as long as he can show strong ties to return. A return ticket in his case will probably suffice.

Toss in a letter from his boss (father) and he is gold.

I would not think Wales would be considered a high fraud area!

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

Thanks, I will mention this to him. It would mean the world to me (and him) for him to be present at my graduation :)

It's your NOA1 basically USCIS acknowledging that it received your case.

Good Luck.

No any RFE would not happen until USCIS actually starts adjudicating your case. You are looking at at least a few months wait.

An NOA-1 is a great thing, it means our petitions didn't get lost in the mail, LOL! Can you imagine?!!

Hi ellabee! I'm a Feb. 2009 K-1 filer myself! It's been since December 2 since my Honey and I have seen each other and we're past due for a cuddle, so he's coming here in May (I was going to go to him in England, but have to postpone the trip due to work). We agonized over the decision, but ultimately felt that a letter from his employer (stating his employment and intent to return), his mortgage note (he pays the mortgage on his mother's home) and a return ticket will do the trick!

Good luck, congrats on your graduation, and welcome from one newbie to another!
