B2 Visa - Place of entry, I-94 questions

I am filling out the I-485 and in part 3 it asks for:

Place of entry into the USA (city/state)

- I had a connecting flight from Ottawa, ON to Newark NJ to Savannah GA. would Newark or Savannah be my place of entry?

Were you inspected by a US Immigration officer?

- Is this the part where they ask you if you are going for business or pleasure and for how long?

Nonimmigrant Visa Number

- Since I came on a B2 and don't appear to have a visa number, what do I put? Is this number perhaps stamped on my visa somewhere?

Date Visa was issued, Consulate where Visa was issued.

- Again, because I wasn't issued a visa at a consulate, I guess I out none? And the date would be my flight departure date.

Thanks for your help

Newark

Yes

The visa would have the number on it.

Date Visa was issued, Consulate where Visa was issued.

You came over on the VWP? You would have to specify that.

Thanks for your help

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

Hey guys, since my spouse is military, i found out I could call USCIS directly and got all my answers at 1-877-cis-4MIl. :)

Thanks for your help :D

They said my point of entry would be Ottawa as it is where I entered. I also remember the lady at the gift shop saying it was considered American grounds once I crossed the immigration guys.

She said that I don't have a visa number and on my cover letter I would explain how I came over legally with a B2 visa.

Ottawa is not in the USA. So I am not sure what they are thinking about. Your first POE would be Newark for the USA.

No Ottawa would be the POE as all Canadian airports have a US CBP you go through Immigtation before boarding your flight. This also happens in Ireland at Dublin and Shannon airports.
