how can i check how much was my STATE tax refund last year???

maybe contact the office of your state comptroller?

It only mattters if you itemized your federal return last year, and deducted state income taxes. Check the website for your state's tax authority, or contact them directly. Some states will send you a statement.

i dont know.. i dont have my paperwork from last year, the person who did my taxes left the country for vacation...so i have no idea! i think it was CA!

me and my hubby are going to file taxes 2gether for the first time..and we are so lost!

currently i am in Poland , he is in the US - we are preparing I-864 for NVC and time is ticking away.. :( looks like we will delay our case

You should be able to get most of that information from his 2007 Tax Returns. He should have copies of that and the 2006 return as well in case he needs that to verify income.

did you itemize your deductions or take the standard? If the standard then do not worry about it as it is not taxable income

You are required by federal law to keep your tax returns for the last three years, our state tax laws are the same. In my position, always sending in cash with tax returns, so I have no refunds to claim. But when I did, would only claim the exact amount I paid and not what was withdrawn on my W-2 when I was getting a refund. You can only claim what you paid and not what was taking out, but if you do, have to carry that out to the next year. Like things to be done and final.
