Does everyone need to submit originals to NVC? It's just that the thought of sending my originals is making me cringe......would NVC send them back? If so, any idea as to when I would be able to get my original documents mailed back to me? Would I be able to get them back before the interview? What about when POE time comes around???

yes correct no need to send cenmar at NVC you will only need that on interview day,i have my cenmar too last januAry nd it takes 1 week in san fernando pampanga before they release,i guess its more faster in manila you can apply now while waiting on your case to be completed you still have more time coz 2 months before your interview.

good luck

Greetings!

Why CENOMAR? when you are already married? if you got married few months back in the philippines it will only take them few weeks to endorse your marriage certificate to NSO, so by this time if you will request one it will show that you are married.

I think it is only needed for K1 applicant as they need to prove that they are single.

so, if some people got married in the philippines and still was able to get CENOMAR then it is just so clear that the NSO updates things too late.

p.s CENOMAR stands for certificate of no marriage.

just my two cents,

If you're already married and you get a CENOMAR, the record of your marriage such as the date of the wedding and the name of your spouse will appear on the certificate.

Yap, it is needed for K1 visa to prove that they are single AND for IR1/CR1 visa to prove that they are married with the person petitioning them. There is really no name to call that certificate but the process is the same as obtaining the CENOMAR to get that Marriage Index.

The CENMAR will be needed at the interview not at NVC stage. I didn't hire a lawyer so, I can't really comment on that. I just did a lot of reading especially here on VJ and with God's help and guidance, we were able to complete our case at USCIS and NVC without delays. Wish you'll have a speedy process, too!!! godbless!

Thanks for the NVC phone number, we will call them later. Are you 100% sure I don't need to send my CENMAR to NVC? I'm sorry but I just want to make sure not to leave any important document behind for our case to be completed in NVC.

I'm 100% sure that CENOMAR will be needed at interview. My friend who had his interview Feb.25 is already married, didn't have the Marriage Index at interview...this caused him delays because the US embassy will not process his Visa until he submits the certificate I mentioned.

you need to submit originals 1 set and photo copies 1 set to NVC. also it is suggested that you take a photocopy set of everything to the interview (for CR-1) just in case something gets lost by NVC.

And yes club you need to obtain a CENMAR from NSO. We went to the one here in Iligan and got it the next day after we applied.

You also didn't send your CENOMAR to NVC??? So you'll just bring it on your interview. Seems its nicer to get CENOMAR there in Iligan coz it would only take a day to get one. Here in Manila, it would take a week or so!!!

actually we got 2 copies of the CENOMAR AND CENMAR and sent 1 with the DS-230 and we have the other for the interview. But we did alot of things that probably was overkill. Just to avoid RFE.

Whoaaaaaaa.

This is another one of those threads where K visa info and CR1/IR1 visa information is getting all mixed up - so hold your horses.

K3 visa applicants DO NOT submit their documents to NVC.

CR1 and IR1 applicants DO submit their ORIGINAL documents to NVC (along with a photocopy of each document as well). The originals should be returned to you at the interview (except for the police certificate).

No offense to anyone here but I am getting really confused. Could anyone please concretely tell me if a CENOMAR (certificate of NO marriage) is absolutely needed for an interview in the Manila embassy. I see a lot of round and round talk some say yes some say no. I have not seen anything on the embassy website saying it is needed for the interview. I don't want any delays. We have been married for almost 2 years now and want to be sure she will have all she needs for the interview.

They may ask you for the CENMAR which is same thing as CENOMAR (just married version). Be safe take it with you. Others have posted that they had their visa delayed because the Embassy asked for it.

If you will look on the US embassy website, specifically Manila, you will only see that the CENOMAR is listed as a requirement for K1 (to prove that they are single) but with the testimonials of those who already have their interview for IR1/CR1 visa, the MARRIAGE INDEX is part of the requirement....and to obtain the Marriage index, you have to go to NSO or request online( whichever is convenient for you) . My husband got our Marriage index certificate recently and he was ask by the NSO personnel to fill up a request form which is the same form he used when he got his CENOMAR before we got married.

I'd rather be in a position wherein I have the document and the CO didn't ask for it THAN for them to ask for something and I don't have anything to show. Hope this helps

Thanks Club for the assurance. So I just need to get one copy of CENOMAR and multiple copies of my birth and marriage certificates for future use. I appreciate your help a lot. GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF US!!!

I agree with club, Joe. You said it yourself, you don't want any delays on your wife's case then you should ask your wife to get a CENOMAR before her interview. It is better to have ALL documents on hand and be ready for what the embassy might ask you to provide, than to be asked to come back on a certain date which would definitely cause delay on your case. Well that is what I plan to do on my part so my husband and I could finally be together.

Hey guys, I just learned from our lawyer after paying the AOS and IV fees, the NVC mailed him a letter stating they have received the payment plus some instructions. And that includes sending them the originals of all the photocopied documents we sent them. My question is, what will I bring on my interview? Isn't it one of their requirements is to present the originals during the interview? Will anyone please share their personal experience on this matter?

One more thing, for Philippines CR/IR filers who already had their interview, is it true that even though we are married and have our marriage contract from the NSO with us, we still have to present a certificate of no marriage (CENOMAR) record? If it is, then this will definitely delay our case. :(

I wish us all the best of luck in getting our visa soon!!! GOD BLESS US!!!

I asked an NVC operator the exact same question, "how can my parents take original documents to the interveiw when you already have them?" they told me to take anything you didn't submit to the NVC with you at interveiw thats on the least to take. They also advised me to take copies of any orginal certifcates sent to the NVC.

My Journey for my Parents ) IR5

(Please note we have taken our time and we could have gone faster with the NVC)

I have 2 petitions running at the same time, I have not posted 2 sets of dates because they have been processed either together or a few days of each other.

Hey Club, do you have any idea how to check the status of our case in NVC online using our case number?

I don't think they have ONLINE CASE STATUS CHECK...but you can call 1-603-334-0700 and follow the prompt to hear the latest update on your case. I used to call this number everyday( ) while I'm processing the petition paper of my husband. It gives you an idea about the progress of your case.

Does this automated thing 'ALWAYS' updated? I tried to call that number and what i heard was what they did last year.. they already sent a barcoded documents to my husband for the I864 and ds230.. we already sent all the papers including the ds230 that i filled up, but that automated thing didnt say anything about that. :-(...
