Hey guys, I just learned from our lawyer after paying the AOS and IV fees, the NVC mailed him a letter stating they have received the payment plus some instructions. And that includes sending them the originals of all the photocopied documents we sent them. My question is, what will I bring on my interview? Isn't it one of their requirements is to present the originals during the interview? Will anyone please share their personal experience on this matter?

One more thing, for Philippines CR/IR filers who already had their interview, is it true that even though we are married and have our marriage contract from the NSO with us, we still have to present a certificate of no marriage (CENOMAR) record? If it is, then this will definitely delay our case. :(

I wish us all the best of luck in getting our visa soon!!! GOD BLESS US!!!

Did you go ahead with the K-3 or CR/IR?

Because from what I know (please someone correct me if I'm wrong) if you are applying for the CR than you have to send your originals to the NVC and bring copies to your internview

When in doubt, check the Wiki!

We requested multiples copies ( 4 certified copies) of each of our documents from NSO before we started the process. yes, we need to submit original and photocopies of those documents to NVC. I would suggest that if you don't have anymore originals, provided that you will give your last copy to NVC, to start to request more from NSO so that by the time that you will have your interview ( which is around 2 mons after your case is completed), you already have original certified copies in your hand to present to CO.

My husband haven't had his interview yet but a friend of mine had his and the CENOMAR ( Marriage Index for married people) is one of the requirements. You can get your CENOMAR now while waiting for your case to be completed from NVC to avoid delays when your interview comes. Hope this helps!

you need to submit originals 1 set and photo copies 1 set to NVC. also it is suggested that you take a photocopy set of everything to the interview (for CR-1) just in case something gets lost by NVC.

And yes club you need to obtain a CENMAR from NSO. We went to the one here in Iligan and got it the next day after we applied.

Was that the case ever since??? Then we hired a bad lawyer!!! Coz from the way he sounded, that was not the way it used to be. By the way, did you send the CENOMAR to NVC too?

The CENMAR will be needed at the interview not at NVC stage. I didn't hire a lawyer so, I can't really comment on that. I just did a lot of reading especially here on VJ and with God's help and guidance, we were able to complete our case at USCIS and NVC without delays. Wish you'll have a speedy process, too!!! godbless!

My husband and I just sent out our I-130 petition, so does that mean they want an original marriage certificate, and what not. :|

Or is this just in the Philippines?

I believe it's a general requirement for processing your case at the NVC ( certified true copy of the marriage certificate). But the marriage index depends on the US embassy post where you're going to have your interview.

The only reason why we hired one was because we were hoping it would speed up our case but it turned out to be the same, worst, the opposite. I wasn't aware of VJ when we hired one. I wish we didn't hire a lawyer at all!!! Not only we could have saved our money but also time! (It takes time to send documents and payments to our lawyer then send them to USCIS/ NVC.) Anyway, thanks alot for the feedback Club. I wish you good luck on your interview!!! Keep in touch.

Hey Club, do you have any idea how to check the status of our case in NVC online using our case number?

You also didn't send your CENOMAR to NVC??? So you'll just bring it on your interview. Seems its nicer to get CENOMAR there in Iligan coz it would only take a day to get one. Here in Manila, it would take a week or so!!!

I don't think they have ONLINE CASE STATUS CHECK...but you can call 1-603-334-0700 and follow the prompt to hear the latest update on your case. I used to call this number everyday( ) while I'm processing the petition paper of my husband. It gives you an idea about the progress of your case.

Thanks for the NVC phone number, we will call them later. Are you 100% sure I don't need to send my CENMAR to NVC? I'm sorry but I just want to make sure not to leave any important document behind for our case to be completed in NVC.
