where are you that you are trying to get an international money order from?

if you are in the states, just get one at the post office. if it needs to be drawn from a u.s. bank, i am assuming it is being sent to the u.s., so i am having a hard time understanding why you would get the money order in the philippines to send to the u.s. if one of you is here already...but i must admit i have no idea what a crba is....so, maybe if we had a bit more info we could help :)

My fiance needs to get one. She lives in Cagayan De Oro. She needs to mail it to the US to get a copy of her Consular's Report of Birth Abroad (if they even have it) The place says they need a money order drawn on a US Bank. I guess Western Union would work? I am not sure????

Yeah, her mom is a US citizen and left her at an early age. It turns out that she supposedly registered her at the embassy. My fiance finally got a hold of her and asked about it. Her mom told her that she did register her and has the papers but won't give them to her. Now we have to send for a copy which is a major pain (including notaries and affidavits) and she has to send a money order or check drawn off a US Bank for payment. She lives in Cagayan De Oro and we are not sure where she should get the money order from.

Check the USembassy manila website http://manila.usembassy.gov and go to 'consular and visa services' theres requirements/procedure for claiming US citizenship. You need to contact AIR21 (Embassy-contracted courier service) tel.nos.(632)879-4747 from 7:30am-4:30pm to obtain forms and list of requirements. From my understanding you can pay the CRBA fee $65.00 either in US or Philippine currency so you/your fiance can pay it in Banco De Oro or CITIBANK but first you need to contact AIR21 they will tell you what to do.Goodluck.Sorry that your soon to-be mother in-law is acting like an #######.

Thank you. The embassy said we need to send a request to Washington including the money order. That is the only place that we can get it from but it has to be drawn on a US bank. Do you think Western Union Money Order will work?

About her mom....She is a terrible person for what she has done....hopefully one day she will change.
