It definitely reminds me of the movie Gattaca too...

I do have to say though, for the medical part I'm for it. One of my cousins (not first degree) has a hereditary disease in his family, his father died from complications of it, his brother already has serious signs and he is starting to as well (he's in is very early 30's).

The disease is only transmitted to boys and they are the only one who carry the gene.

So if him and his wife would have girls only they would brake the chain and it woulnd't be transmitted to the next generations.

It's one of those rare disease with no known cure (a bit similar to parkinson in some ways).

Again the problem isn't science in itself but how we use it.

If it can be insurable (for actual medical reasons to weed out genetic diseases) then all sails ahead.

Unfortunately, the insurance industry may not be interested all that much the way it usually denies claims based on pre-existing conditions. Perhaps in this case would MDs use the technique for cosmetic reasons to subsidize medical ones. Don't count on this happening though in the current culture of greed running around.
