RFE- They lost our Medical Examination paperwork

Got the RFE today and I called USCIS. Spoke to two operators and neither really knew what USCIS was exactly asking for. In the RFE, it really sounds like they want us to do the entire medical again.

We did the medical at the consulate's approved clinc in Mexico for the K-1 visa (in August 2008), then went to a civil surgeon in the U.S. for vaccinations and he filled out the I-693 and we sent it in with our AOS packet.

Any ideas on how to fix this besides paying for another medical?

Sounds very similar to our problem. Our RFE letter told us we needed a "follow-up" exam to the one I submitted in March last year, before traveling to the States, despite the instructions clearly saying that, if your medical was performed within the last year, you only needed to submit the vaccination information.

We called the number on the RFE and asked to be put through to a real person, who looked into it for us and told us that they had no further information. Even they said "Are you sure it doesn't mention a specific requirement in the RFE; something you omitted before?", and we told them no, all it said was that I needed the exam again. All they told us was what we had on the RFE, so we went and had the whole thing done again.

I know that's really not what you want to hear, but it might be the only thing you can do. I'm really sorry. Believe me, I know it sucks. But on the positive side, once we submitted our new medical form, we were fully approved after 7 days of them receiving it! With any luck, your case will be the same and this will be the last thing they need from you.

We also had the same RFE as thejoz. We redid the medical and were approved 5 days after we returned it.

I guess we will pay for the exam again.

Did either of you have to have the vaccinations re-transcribed? If yes, did the civil surgeon just do it all on the same form with the medical?

Yes; our surgeon said that, since we went in... let's see... July, of '08, to get the vaccinations transcribed before, that was recent enough that they could just transfer all that information onto a new I-693 for us. We had a photocopy of the transcribed vaccinations from July, so we took that in and he just copied and pasted, pretty much. And obviously filled out all the rest of the form with the blood test results, TB skin test results and so forth.
