Just want to say Hola to all and get some advice and a little guidance too. since Im new to all this stuff..

My name is Eddie, IM from East Texas. Ive known my soon to be wife for over a year & a half ,her name is Mary. She lives in Barranquilla .. We have talked everyday since being a couple by phone and on cam/MSN everyday for the past year for about 6 hrs a day.. Ive sent money to her to help pay for her phone bill by Western Union; sent packages, and have E-mails and CHAT logs all the way back to when we started talking just as friends, Which she has too. I asked her to marry me 7 months ago.

Ill be going to Barranquilla in June and getting married on the 13th. Ill be there till the middle of July.. ( It will be my first trip there ) Im a single father of a 5 year old boy and disabled. shes been like a mother to him in all this time even when we where just friends.. (Great woman, like a dream come true )

I know to keep all the bills from the wedding, plane tickets, apartment and so on plus a lot of pics of us together and with family and so on, even movies too.. LOL.

I cant think of anything else we might need, but if any of you might have an idea PLEASE SPEAK UP!!!!!!!!!! ( and THANKS ahead of time !!! )

I think we are going to try for the CR-1, K-3 Visa.. Hope some of you can give us ideas with that too.. and what to expect with going that way.. ( PROS & CONS OF THAT VISA ) she said she wants to work when she gets here to help are family.. ( but I want her home for at least a few months first!!!( FOR US TIME !!!!!!!! ) Are there any short cuts on a way of doing any of this visa stuff ??????????????

We hope to make new friends here and maybe help as we go with this in the long run.. ( BUT HOPE NOT TO LONG A RUN !!!!! )

I havent got a clue on how to add a flag or time line or any of that stuff you have set up on most of your profiles but then again Im just a simple country- boy. LOL !!!!!!!

Really thanks for all the help you folks give us?????

Oh and to the guys that brought your wife from Colombia , what was the hardest thing for her to get use to here in the states or you think she had trouble with the most. To kinda give me a heads up and take care of and how did you handle it..

I suggest you read the guide here on VJ and look for the emabassy web site, that should also be helpful.

Good luck

CR1 and K3 are two separate visas. Read about them in the Guides but clicking on the word "Guides" at the top of any page here. Bringing a spouse from Columbia is going to take a minimum of 6 to 12 months with a good target being closer to 9. The best shortcut is to study and prepare, then get things right the first time. Most people here do it themselves but don't hesitate to seek professional advise if things seem to complicated for you.

Why is it that the only one who can stop the crying is the one who started it in the first place?

Gary here. Of Winters, near Ballinger, Runnels county. Really, you can leave off the "east" part. Just say you're from Texas, no one needs to know. :)
