I'm not sure what's going on with my application. I sent my app 01/11 and received my NOA on 1/20. But since then, I've heard nothing and my online application status just says my application is pending. Based on applications sent from the DC metro area in Dec. and Jan. I'm wondering if there is a problem with my application because I still don't even have my biometrics date. Any thoughts?

One main difference perhaps is that my application was forwarded to the National Benefits Center

Maybe you should call the number on your NOA and ask them just to set your mind at ease. I filed after you and I have done my biometrics two weeks ago. When you dial the number press 123 to speak to a customer service rep. Have your letter with you as they will ask for your receipt number. Hope it comes in the mail this week. All the best.

Is Fairfax your local office? I filed in December and my application went through the Lockbox Center and NBC. I had my biometrics appt. in January and I'm scheduled to have my interview in about two weeks. So, if Fairfax is your local office, I would call USCIS and speak to an officer to see what's going on. From what I've read in forums, it usually takes about three to four months from the time you're filing until you have your interview at the Fairfax office.

Good luck!

now a request has been sent to my local office (which i take is fairfax) for my biometrics. if i don't hear back within 45 days, i'm supposed to call back.

It was like eleven months between the I-751 and N-400 biometrics, but still made us make that 450 mile trip, asked the officer why, he replied, I don't know, I just work here. But the frustrating thing, if whoever decides that can use your still valid fingerprints, no pictures for the N-400, they don't tell you, so leave you hanging. That can also be frustrating. No online status, so you just check your mailbox everyday.

And while most of us send everything overnight with a return receipt, we only get back a #10 first class envelop back that can be easily confused with the tons of junk mail we also received. Can recall going through all the junk mail, saying this is definitely not from the USCIS before pitching it.

Read a .pdf file in the USCIS where Emilio appeared before congress asking him why is he still charging 80 bucks for just fingerprints when he is using the old ones. He replied, it cost him that much to store and retrieve it for those 15 months. These are all blown up electronic prints, and watched that FBI program, where they caught criminals like 50 years later with just a partial fingerprint. !,350 miles of driving, six days of lost work, I drove my wife, and two days missed school for our daughter, for just fingerprints.
