Wow! Just saw the spreadsheet -- nice!

If we get our NOA2 on May 5th, that'd be great.

One question though... how is that time line being determined and is there any validity to it? I see people who've been waiting for their NOA2 for more than 6 months.

Just curious. I appreciate the effort and will follow it to see how it goes.

Also, as a Canadian, that number for the USCIS is not allowable to me -- is there another number that someone outside the US can use to reach them?

Thanks all... and thanks for including us in the timeline.

You're welcome, it's fun to include everybody in the spreadsheet... if I fail to include anyone, please just input your own timeline.

I copied the I-130 approx approval time from your VJ timeline. I think this is based on the data gathered from previous trend.

If you notice, we have one March Filer who is in VSC, her VJ timeline says she's going to get an approval or update around Novermber 2009.

Generally, it depends on the trend of the service center. Since CSC moves faster lately, they are predicting a much faster update or approval for those who have their petitions in this center.

I'm sorry, I only have the USCIS America number.

For the rest of the people, you can call USCIS (after 1 month of waiting) for an update.

1. DIAL STILL 1-800-375 – 5283

2. PRESS 1-2-1 ENTER YOUR RECEIPT NUMBER.

3. AS SOON AS THE YOU HEAR THE STATUS OF YOUR CASE, PRESS 1-3-4. THERE'S NO OPTION FOR THIS, JUST DO IT AND YOUR CALL WILL THEN BE DIRECTED TO THE SERVICE CENTER IN LINE WITH THE RECEIPT NUMBER YOU ENTERED.

4. IT WILL BE A WAIT FOR COUPLE OF MINUTES, BUT ONCE THEY ANSWER, IT WILL BE STRAIGHT THEM ASKING YOU ABOUT YOUR RECEIPT NUMBER.

5. THEY ARE VERY POLITE, AND THEY WILL TELL YOU EXACTLY WHAT IS HAPPENING TO YOUR CASE. IF IT READY TO BE ASSIGNED TO AN IMMIGRATION OFFICER, OR IF IT DUE FOR APPROVAL BY AN IMMIGRATION OFFICER, OR YOUR PAPERS IS STILL IN THE MAIL ROOM, ETC.

I copied this from somewhere here. Thanks to the original poster (I forgot to take down the name). This is with minor changes already since the USCIS changed their menus.

Paris, Tomuts, since we filed almost at the same time, I think you should go try and call them. Isn't it better to know? hahha.. well, not really.. we got a bit depressed knowing that our case is still in the mail room.

:crying:

TNGirl, think about it Hon, they are in mail room all in sections of receipt, they CAN NOT just pile all the petitions they have on officers desk, they would not be alble to process them orderly. They must be in a section even mail room. Its going to be okay. Please dont be upset.

Truly happy!!!

New life, new adventures, and a new attitude.

well, it just sucks to hear it from them... hahhahaa.. we're okay.

We decided not to file the K3... we're afraid we might have to wait another 2 months because our case would go back down the line again. we're not taking anymore chances on this one. if they have sent us the NOA1 earlier, we might have continued on with the K3, as it is... we're sticking with the CR1 now.

Thanks Paris for the moral support... I will have a long talk with God tonight. :)

yep. but we never got the NOA1 letter... and the status online says they sent it.

we're worried about the whole mail fluke thing, so we decided to call today.

No problem dear, it was my pleasure... I've been doing nothing since the third week of March. It was a good diversion for tonight.

@missyouhun: You are welcome. Btw, I got shocked when I saw your timeline.. and then I look at where you paper went and I saw it was VSC, I do hope you don't get left behind. You should look around this place and find people whose papers are in VSC. The Feb Filers have a nice spreadsheet too, they have lots of people in VSC there... I just didn't pay attention to their timeline too much.

Good luck to us March Filers. Let's hope for more NOA2 this week.

Hello everyone !

I filed my I-130 on the 26 th of March and Notice date is 31 st march 2009 .I recieved I-797C ...I am guessing this is NOA-1 you guys are talking about . I created an account and put my case number but it say's "Case received and pending." .....Well though the english is plain ,i am a little curious when you guys talk about case " touched " .What does that mean.

Sorry for being so dumb, but i am trying to get into this whole conversation so that i can get help .. I am not hiring any lawyer so all help will be appreciated .

Thanks again .Cheers to march filers .

Yes, I-797C is the NOA1.

Touched is when somebody views your file or something is done to it. In short, your file was moved or handled. It's nice and reassuring to get a touch but some people get approved without ever getting touched. There are some here in VJ whose file was already sent to NVC and yet in the USCIS website their case still says pending.

Keep reading... there are really lots of smart people here.

And while waiting for your NOA2, you might want to check out the NVC guide. Some would even say, start gathering your documents and make a checklist.

Finally, WELCOME to March filers thread.. enjoy your stay. We're sort of like a big family here... nobody's question is too dumb. Just keep posting your questions, and surely somebody here would know the answer or can point you to the right direction.

PS: I'm putting you on the March 2009 Spreadsheet. You can click the link on my signature so you can see everybody's timeline.
